Default 2006 Turbo S brake pads and rotors

Hey everyone I picked up that 2006 CTTS, it is mint super clean. Gotta do the brakes all the way around and wanted to know if anyone was using the Pagid brake pads and if they were the same as OEM. Also is there another source for the 380mm rotors besides Porsche. Also has anyone ever turned the their rotors? I have not got them off to measure them but the machine spec is .4mm then they must be discarded. Thats nothing. They have a pretty big lip on them so I prolly gotta junk them.

Ill get some pics up showing all the work I'm doing to it.

Thanks again.

The OE parts last a long time -- and the sensors go off a bit early IMO.

Some report getting a second set of pads out of the rotors -- but my front rotors were more than half of the Spec when the sensor went off.

I went with the whole kit from Sunset -- rotors/ pads/ sensors - bolts and all the hardware - I always order an oil filter also since it fits in the same box. Just ordered the rear setup - as I will be needing it this spring. The fronts are around $500 and the rears a little over 400.00 w/ shipping.

The OE brakes gave me flawless service. So while I could have saved a few dollars by trying to risk using the rotors or going aftermarket.. to me it was not worth the difference.

You don't cut the rotors ....and the dealers always replace them when they do a brake job. Good Luck

Pair - go OEM, no need to go Pagid.

Your not going to find a set of Turbo S (380mm) rotors for $500. Porsche list is around $800 per rotor but many dealers are discounting them down to about $600 per rotor. The rear Turbo S rotors (358mm) are slightly bigger than a regular Turbo's front rotor (350mm). The Turbo S rotors are a special piece for sure with Aluminum hats.

The price I think was $525.00 from Sunset Porsche including shipping.

Two rotors/ Pad set/ Two sensors/ Hardware kit / and four bolts - all the parts needed to do the front brakes - plus an oil filter/ drain rings.

You may not need everything replaced - but I can't get into it and then need something. This way everything is new -- Having the hardware kit and the four new bolts makes it easy.

I also ordered the two driver seat bolts that need to be removed in order to get to the battery -- $3. Some have remarked that they are hard to remove and the heads strip -- my 06 will be needing one eventually. I know my luck -- I will destroy one of the bolts and then ....no seat!!

Good luck

The wear limit specs from Porsche is a total of 2mm before one brake rotor is junk. Meaning that you could have up to 1mm of lip on each side of the brake rotor. This is from the worhshop manuals.

Where did you get 0.4mm from? Could that possibly be the specs for measuring wether the disc is warped or not, ie thickness difference for different spots on one rotor?

let me know if you find any aftermarket discs for the CTTS... I'm trying to do that for a couple of weeks now but without any luck.

.4mm is the max u can machine off of them. 36mm is minium thickness but they dont want you to put them on the car with fresh pads under 37.6mm because they are going to wear down from the pad use. So they are definately gonna be junk, the lip is .8mm on each side.

I see, that sounds reasonable.

I would change them too at 0.8mm lips when changing pads.

So, could these be possibly real???

Close to the same price on a few other websites. They are one piece though so no longer floating rotors which may cause a little more noise + plus the slotting will probably add a little noise.

I just installed new Rotors, Pads and Sensors on 06 Turbo, 39K

Rotors - DBA 4x4 Survival Series - $230 each / front, $184 rear - from Tirerack
Everything else from AutohausAZ
Pads - Pagid - $127-pair F/$89 -R
Sensor - Pex - $12 each
Disc Brake Pad Spreader tool - must have! $3
New Hardware - W0133-1647735 Disc Brake Hardware Kit - Porsche Part

After the first wheel, it was a fairly easy project.

As far as Tirerack goes for the Turbo S, I see Centric front rotors at $849 each, no DBA discs for the Turbo S. The Turbo S rear rotors are fairly cheap compared to the fronts.
