Contragulations kanishkl !!

I am sure the above spec will offer you a wonderful ride beginning at the coming summer.

Your waiting time is not that bad......I placed the order in the local dealer on 30/1 and they said the expected delivery time is September..........

Thanks Cayenne11DHO!

Sorry to hear about your timeline, is it because much of the production allocation is geared towards Asia this time around? Porsche has really picked up here in Indonesia, selling only 31 cars in 2009 but 131 in 2010 The number is skyrocketing this year with the new Cayenne & Panamera.

What build have you gotten yourself? Would love to compare notes.

Thanks w00t! Wouldn't have been possible without your detailed reports and feedback. Have not been able to stop looking at your avatar thread with pictures of all the different options - preparing myself for the arrival of my car

How is the Porsche treating you so far?

Hi kanishkl,

My build is almost the same as yours but your option list is more complete than mine.

For budget reason, I have to make some hard decisions and picked only some crucial options based on my needs, so I DON'T HAVE:

Carbon Fiber Trim [the standard package in HK is Piano Black trim]

Automatically dimming exterior and interior mirrors (with memory package)

Porsche Entry & Drive

Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS) [interestingly, we do have Bi-Xinon lights]

Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus)

Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) [I would really love to have this to avoid the car-sick effect for the back-row passengers]

100 litres fuel tank [HK is a small place and I don't usually use the car for long journey.....so better keep the weight of the car low]

21-inch 911 Turbo II wheels [I only upgraded to 19" Cayenne Turbo alloy wheel only.....budget reason]

Comfort memory package (14-way)

Comfort lighting package (with memory package)

4-zone climate control

3-spoke multifunction steering wheel [I picked 3-spoke steering wheel with +/- paddles. This is the same steering wheel of 911 Black Edition and the chrome decor looks great with the Cayenne interior. Also, I found the standard +/- gear-shift buttons a bit "plastic" and I may accidently pushed them with my driving habit]

Porsche Crest embossed on head restraints, front and rear

Preparation for mobile phone

Burmester® High-End Surround Sound System [I took BOSE system. I listened to the base audio and the high-end Burme.......my budget only allows me to stick with the middle choice only]

Stainless steel skid plate (front) [as I don't plan to use the car offroad, try to keep the weight low without this]

Electric roll-up sunblind for rear [I asked the salesman about this and he said this is more like a nest, not 100% blocking the sun-shine.....so I skipped it]

Deletion of model designation [hehehe......I like the silver names.....maybe I am not that subtle after deciding to get a S instead of the base model]

Side airbags rear [hmmm......not because I don't care about the passengers......but my budget is already very thin........]

I do have 3 extra options not on your list:

(1) Tire pressure monitoring system - I am not an experienced driver and I think it would be good to have a computer to monitor and alarm me when I should pump more gas to the tires.

(2) Compass display - I am attracted by the pictures from W00t esp. the lighting emitting from the compass. I also like the curve shape of the top dashboard with the compass there.

(3) Wheel hub in color crest ...... I think your 21" wheel already have this built in anyway.

Lastly on the long leadtime, I now suspect that the long waiting time is caused partially because the local dealer cannot cope with the delivery and maintenance services of the cars sold locally. Yesterday, I talked to a guy who worked in the local dealer and he acknowledged that they don't even have enough manpower to wax the new-arrival cars for the buyers currently......damn.

So I think they just collect the orders from buyers first and then send to Porsche only according to their delivery backlog schedule. From the newspapers, Porsche delivered a total of 900+ cars in HK in 2010 and they think they will break this record again this year.

Nice build. If I went with the V8 then PTV/PDCC would have been mandatory. Jet black, 21" turbo IIs, pano roof, Burmester, CF interior - it's going to be a looker!

Congratulations on the order! Interesting that you have decided to go with the v8 (lower spec) than a v6 (high-spec). Shame you couldn't get the PTV/PDCC, would've been great driving on some of the roads in Hong Kong

What color ext/int did you get?

Thanks Blaine S - really can't wait.

However, I saw some pictures of the umber/tartufo interior and I'm getting second thoughts. Have always loved the black on black but the umber/tartufo seems rich and different. Anyway, don't think I'll end up doing anything about it.

I ordered Black + Black combo.

I know light-color interior looks really great with Black exterior but I am a lazy guy who don't spend a lot of time cleaning the interior........

For the PTV, I guess you guys really moved my mind again.......I am now considering getting PTV at the expense of tire pressure system option (really want to keep my budget). For PDCC....hmmm......wish I would have extra budget.

I am also thinking dropping the BOSE option since I only listen to mp3.

Can any owner without the BOSE / Berme audio upgrade comment here how's the basic audio system sound? Does it have surround effect too? I think the base system does not have a sub-woofer speaker at the back of the car.

The PTV is a great addition and replacement to the Tire pressure system. Not too sure about the audio, perhaps another forum member can answer this.

Have you tried searching through the forum?

I have the PCM w/Nav, it's upgraded from the stock CDR-31 audio interface, and the sound is sufficient. I admit, it does lack in sound depth, but I find it comparable to the base audio system found in any higher end auto brand (my past BMW and Lexus for comparison sake). I primarily listen to the radio or the iPod, so no regrets passing on the Bose. I've grabbed a chart from the 2011 Cayenne product information booklet that outlines the details between the 4 available systems. You are right about the lack of sub-woofer.

i like this chart above^

IMO the headunit for CDR-31 does the same as the PCM (besides having NAV and USB input?) I'm still not sure the differences but i guess will see in a few weeks.

I don't think there are many differences between the two other than 1 more speaker with the PCM, a little more power output, and the ability to play video DVDs.

the word CDR just scares me because CDR on the cayman's is HORRIBLE... so what i was saying is besides those items mentioned i hope the overall OS is the same..
