Then I get two paydays?
First the Cayenne windfall, and then the 996 cash bonanza. By the time the lawyers take their cut, I'll be able to afford that free oil change offered as the settlement to all the plaintiffs in the class (if you still own the vehicle)

This is AWESOME!!! I plan on using this in the PIG (Participation In Government) class I teach. Does anyone have a suspected time line for when this may be resolved? I ordered the upgrade kit, but haven't installed it yet. Every day I can smell radiator fluid, and I am just waiting for the plastic pipes to burst. Any chance there is a drive shaft / carrier bearing / PCM class action in the future?
Great work and best of luck!!!

Prsche Class Action Lawsuit
My questions is why do we need to buy an "update kit" with a durable aluminum coolant pipe. If we are buying a Porsche, the brand name and quality construction of the vehicle lends itself to not having to deal with this type of crap. The Porsche Class Action Lawsuit needs to make them pay for giving us plastic instead of the aluminum coolant pipe and then charging us for it. Posted this on 6speedonline.com too

totally agree, just picked up this morning 3400 dollars, on quote says replaced defective pipes, so how is this not a recall, 21 warranty repairs and 1000's spent in 8 years with no help from porsche ,its only done 80,000 ks, we paid 150,000 for this thing, last 6 months 8000 spent to keep it on road, broken drive shaft ( can you believe it) electrical went ,could not lock or open doors, now cooling pipe and pump, sold 13 year old toyota prado to friend, she still gets recalls and warranty run out 11 years ago. Just wondering has anyone had 21 warranty repairs ( remember this does not count the 20 repairs we have paid for) or am i just damm well unlucky, Ive emailed a guy that does car talk back radio to see if he can help but not holding my breath, I wish you guys all the luck in your class action, Im from australia and am doing my darndest to take this further , it's like talking to a brick wall over here ,owners of 2004's are on there own, they dont want to hear from us, only for repairs which come out of my pocket, anyway , wish yas well.

Three things to "know" before desperation leads to victimization and depression.
Here we listen and understand!
You are not alone!

I've had recalls for much less serious defects. This is a big one that can not only leave you stranded, but can ruin your starter and transmission. And, according to my service advisor, affects all 2004 units eventually -- he said by 100Kmi, sometimes as early as 40Kmi, most get it by 60-70Kmi.
We are not talking about replacing a few hoses for a couple hundred bucks, we are talking about a labor intensive repair of around $2,500 -- assuming that your starter / transmission was not affected in the process. This is a manufacturing defect, not a routine maintenance issue.
This type of defect is inexcusable for any car manufacturer from a Yugo all the way up. Porsche should be ashamed of themselves for ignoring this issue. I'm surprised that the US Government has not insisted on a recall as this is a safety issue.
That said, I just ordered a 2012 Cayenne, but I'm not happy about this, and will be pissed, big time, if I get stranded in my current 2004CT. I was told that the factory may offset some cost of the repair, only after the pipes fail, and depending upon the mileage, how many Porsches you have owned, and the phase of the moon.
I totally reject the suggestion to suck it up. Just replaced the drive shaft and didn't complain about that one, but is it normal to replace a drive shaft? Never had to on any other vehicle, and didn't see that one in the service guide.
I added my name to the list.

My god, theres 3 broken drive shafts on one small page, where's the damm recall on that, i drove off and felt like i had 4 flat tyers, hows that not damm well dangerous, that one cost me 2000 , I go into service now and tell them the problem, just have to look it up and theres 1000's of us , same models, Im hoping i dont get the air conditioning problem, was told we all could, they showed me one in service, water everywhere, carpets, electricals, cost close to 10,000 damage, had to pull whole inside out, ruined. If i don't laugh im gona cry
