When you push the interior button, is the vehicle in "P" or "D"? Are the doors locked?

I ask because my interior button won't do anything unless the vehicle is in park with th doors unlocked.

Hmm, i don't know. I'll try it what you suggested, and see if it works. I'll report back. Thank you.

That's strange. Provided that I keep my finger on the button, I can open my rear trunk while the vehicle is in reverse motion. I freak everybody out when doing it....

Tried what you have suggested, and unfortunately no luck. Does anyone else have an idea on what I can do, or what it might be? Thanks.

I'll bet that does freak them out! I usually get the opposite reaction, which is somebody standing behind the vehicle waiting for me to pop the hatch, then having to wait for me to put the vehicle in park and unlock the doors.

One more thing to check before bringing the car to the dealer is your battery voltage. According to the OM, low battery voltage can cause malfunction of the rear powerliftgate. Also, if a trailer is coupled to the vehicle, operation of the rear gate is restricted to the release handle on the tailgate itself.

Still no luck. Your telling me that it may be due to low battery voltage? Wouldn't I have other symptoms such as dimming headlights if that were the case?

Welcome to the wonderful world of Cayenne electronics where nothing seems to make much sense.

These vehicles are so power hungry, the techs at the dealer are instructed to plug in a charger as soon as the vehicle comes in for major or routine service; even an oil change as the PWIS tester is needed to reset the oil change interval clock.

You ever figure out what the issue was with the trunk button? I can open up my truck from the rear tailgate button, and the fob the button, but the door button will not work..

On my '09, the car needs to be running in order for the trunk to open with the switch on the door.

My 08S I have basically given up on the door switch doing anything. Key fob and hatch switch work fine but the door switch does nothing.

I figured mine out, the switch had somehow had water in it, and after I cleaned the contacts and reassemble it, it worked fine- if it's raining and you open the door, depending on where the door is & amount of rain, it looks like a few drops is all it takes and it gets in behind under the switch-

My 08 must be in Park with the motor running for the interior switch to work. Shut off the engine mid-open and the tailgate stops. Totally bizarre and totally Porsche. It would be great to rig the switch so it has constant power so the tail can be opened regardless if the engine is running, especially on the freeway for added downforce

any electricians out there?

My 08 has a problem where the button on the trunk you push to close it only works sometimes. It occasionally doesn't work but if I press it hard a few times it works. Has anyone had this or know what it might be?
