Has anybody ran 15w50 in their 4.5 V8? It's my preferential oil in my other cars, the only option on the boat and the Cessna so I buy it buy the small barrel. Now that I no longer get free oil changes, I wanted to change things up, though the engine should handle it, is the oil consumption excessively high with this viscosity?

I believe Porsche wants you to run a 0-40 as modern engines use many small passageways and oil acts as a hydraulic fluid in places as well.

I understand that, I was wondering specificly about the 15w50 though.
It's the difference between me running a 10.9 and an 11.2 in my c63, but consumption is really high.

Coastal winter temps in N.B. can be much colder than in Montreal.
PAG also doesn't want the Cayenne to consume more fuel than what the CAFE ratings say it will burn; hence it's nickname "P!G" here on the Cayenne forum.
Here's what the owner's manual recommends.
