Default 80 k miles Cayenne service question

My car is over 6 yrs old with over 80k miles, still on original battery. Is it a good idea to replace the battery at this time? is Interstate a good choice? i think the protocol only calls for a battery check & service.
TIA.

I just had mine replaced at 6.5 years. As the mornings got colder I could tell it wasn't cranking as strong as usual. The dealer actually offered me the option of replacing it with an Interstate or OEM - the Interstate battery was $150 less.

Mine went mid-80Ks. I read on one of these sites that the AutoZone batteries were the same as the Wal-Mart one (yes, Wal-Mart) and were pretty good, so I went with that one. A lot cheaper than OEM, and the warranty was something like 4 years full replacement, then pro-rated the next two or three. Fit fine, a little shorter length-wise.

Mine went 120,000 miles before I traded it and I never replaced the battery. Always started strong.

Rome, I've never had any issues with mine either but since Jerry (EPE) will be accessing it when performing the 80K miles service, I might as as well have him replace it...If it's my luck and I don't, it will go bad the next day or make ltc happy by exploding under me

Enjoy your new Cayenne, it does look like a very nice upgrade to the 1st generation.

We replaced the battery in our 2004 Cayenne Turbo about 7 or so months ago - it was the original one and had at the time about 185,000+ miles on it and it still started the car fine - it was in for a new module for the air suspension and it was recommended to change it so we did - I believe we also have an Interstate - no issues to report. Your in good hands with Jerry at EPE!!

Battery life is more a factor of time and climate than mileage.

Actively charging and discharging (driving more) probably helped battery life.

Sam,

That was the first PASM error we got - we had to replace a computer and the battery and it's been fine since. Our 2004 Cayenne Turbo now has just a hait over 205,000 miles. My 996 Turbo has just over 286,000 miles.

Buy it, drive it, enjoy it, repeat from the start......

Thx T2. I always worry about the PASM system since I enjoy using it all the times.

Double U - O - Double U ---> WOW!!! with the milages, very impressing. I do miss my 996 TwinTurbo...some day I will own another 911 and it sure will be a Turbo...

What the...?!? That's Honda or Toyota mileage!

How many engines? Did you buy two Cayennes just to be safe, and slowly merge into one reliable vehicle over the years?

In all seriousness, I would love to see how you took care of it to last that long. I hope you kept a month-by-month log or something. I'm guessing you were religious about seeing your P-Dealer for everything...

What is your rough cost of ownership per year now? The consumables, plus a thousand or two on stuff that fails? (this could be a new thread: how to last 200K miles...)
