I just paid to have my Coils replaced last week on my 2004 Cayenne S. I am not the original owner of the car though so does anyone know if this applies to me?

read from 6speedonline - the newest version should have part number 94860210405... compared to the parts being sold at suncoast - 94860210405X8 (http://www.suncoastparts.com/product...Code=955ttmain)

was thinking that since I am planning to have the spark plugs replaced, would the dealership replace the coils with the newer versions even if there's no damage to my current set?

I seriously doubt it, they won't replace unless there's a problem with them.

Got my notice last Thurs. I don't think it does much for me as I have the CPO warranty already.

I would like to see one for the coolant pipes though.

+1. I spent a good $400 on new coils...

+1 for coolant pipes. I have changed neither the coils nor the coolant pipes yet, and all I hear is tick, tick, tick...

I received my letter today.

received my letter today. Mine have not been replaced and i'm out of normal warranty. Car is 05 w/ 49,700 miles but i'm out due to the time part. I'm having issues which I think are actually going to be the coils. Called local dealer and he couldn't tell me if they would cover it or not. He said he had just heard about it and his manager is not back until Wednesday. He thought it was only if I had them replaced previously. Letter is a little confusing because it says you are covered if you had them replaced before letter and while vehicle was under 100,000 miles. My vehicle is definitely under the 100,000 mile mark but I would think they would replace my current ones if they fail. Any ideas? Thanks guys

+ 1 on all the above...
Received "the letter" several days ago. Had my coils replaced under warranty at no charge a year ago June with 32,305 miles...
Interesting part number though - 948-602-104-05

This only applies to the improved coils, ending in part number 04, and above.

You see, the brain trust at PCNA believes the earlier coils were so good, there is no need to cover them.

thanks for the info. Kinda odd because who would have the newer updated ones if the older ones hadn't failed unless you had purchased a car that already had the "bad" ones installed. Thanks for the help though.

I just received my letter -- the wording is a bit strange.

I had 8 948-602-104-05 installed in Nov of 2008 and another 8 of 948-602-104-07 installed in June of this year. It also looks like I had two 03's installed when it was new back in 06. So they are giving me 4 years from the 05's installed in 2008.

I can't believe that the original coils would not be included -- obviously the 05's are no better since mine failed in less than two years!

I just got back from the dealer here in New York with my 8 new coils installed. They replaced originals. I read about this on Rennlist on Friday, Monday I blow a fuse and was running on 4 of 8 Cyl. I had a melted wiring harness also. They had to get that approved, but it was also included. Cost to me = $0.
I bought my S three weeks ago with 40,000 mi. and without warranty. Thank god a had a nun give my CS a prayer. She said only priests could give a blessing! Got to go buy a lottery ticket now...

My CEL was on and flashing when I brought it in.
