The flip side is that you can buy one and a quarter fully loaded Turbos in the US for the price of a Diesel in Europe!

Correct, you can no longer access the cargo area without opening the lift gate.

Whoa! Well, I guess I'll be looking for a slightly used '09 GTS then. No pop up back glass is a deal breaker for me. Between the amount of time the dogs ride in the truck and the odd long item from Lowes I use that glass too much to give up.

Thanks for the info.

Sorry to go off topic, but I found an article from last year saying the diesel variant might or will be brought to the states, or is being considered at the very least. http://www.automobilesreview.com/aut...-market/24834/ (Sorry if it was already brought up)
Anyone think this might happen? By the way, Congrats and hope you continue to enjoy the vehicle GregW.

Indeed the diesel is more fuel efficient than the hybrid. I think Porsche could have done a lot better for a start with hybrids than they did. I mean they said the 918 spyder apparently returned about 78 mpgs? Why did they not use close to what they did in the 918 in the Cayenne and at least get somewhere between 35-60 possibly? (size, weight, etc. I know affect the cars efficiency, but if they used the same system it shouldn't go from 78 to like say 20-30 I would think, I could be wrong). Did they really need to use vw's supercharged v6 hybrid engine? I know they made an agreement to use the plain v6 for 2 model cycles, but I have not heard anything about an agreement using the supercharged v6 hybrid, unless any v6 they use for the Cayenne has to come from VW for the Cayenne. (I may have to research a little bit, plus if they used the v8 hybrid engine used in the 918 that would not breach the agreement with VW since it isn't a v6 right?) Well anyway, here is a more recent article, so I guess they will announce what they are doing with the diesel soon. http://www.allaboutauto.us/2011/01/2...%E2%80%99.html
