Question Coin Tray - Help!

Where's the secret button to get the coin tray out in my 04S?

There's a cute little pocket at the back of the tray that now has some coins rattling around in it. I got one because it was tall enough to stick up and let me grab it with a small screwdriver (net gain $0.05 woo-hoo). I can't get the others...

Anybody? I need to yank that thing and plug that slot so it never happens again. The rattling is driving me nuts.

Are you referring to the rubber storage tray within the top portion of the armrest?

Nope...

Directly in front of the shift lever there's a push tray that slides out. Right under the HVAC controls.

In the back of that tray there's a sercet compartment that has captured some coinage... MAPP torch is next!

Is this the ashtray we're talking about here? I'm not sure what you mean...

It may be an ashtray because there isn't one of those in my car. Maybe the insert is out... it's a flock lined tray in my car. Previous owner used it as a coin tray.

Sounds like the non-smokers kit. You do not have a lighter in that tray?

To remove the insert from the ashtray drawer (coin holder), move the lever (shown in the pic below) to the right.

If you want to remove the drawer itself, you cannot do this without first removing the climate control module directly above it in order to access the 2 screws holding the ***'y to the instrument panel. There's a write-up on the procedure but it's lengthy.

F&$$! Thanks Andy!

Thanks for the info. Looks like I'm going to try a butyl blob on a stick. Yeah, mine has no lighter etc. Ironically, it was somewhere 1/2 down this thread I realized my car didn't have an ashtray (or lighter). Kind of a pain for the Valentine1 and cellphone charger but... there's two at the back of the center arm rest.

LOL... Woe is me.

Mine is the same way. Non-smoker package.

There are 2 outlets WAY up under the passenger side by the glove box. Best to actually stick your head under there and look for them first.

Hardwiring the V1 in the Cayenne is a 4 minute job. Just tuck the wire under the headliner and A-Pillar trim down to the dash. Pop the fuse cover off and find one of the Keyed-but-not-in-use fuse slots. Plug the + side in there and ground it to the dash bolt right next to it. It will turn on and off with the key and keeps the wires out of your way.

Andy E. ..."There's a write-up on the procedure but it's lengthy."

Where would one find this article? Thanks in advance, Lisa

Lisa, the procedure is outlined in the Porsche service manual.
The service manual is available in either a hard copy version or on a CD at your dealer parts department.

Thank you for your reply. I was able to source it out on the net, and I am 35 cents richer I've learned my lesson and will no longer store change in the ashtray!!
