hello -
I'm working out options for a 2011 custom build, and was curious about the reversing camera. I'll be towing a boat with the cayenne and I wondered if the reversing camera gives a view of the trailer hitch? might be real helpful for getting lined up when attaching the trailer.
thanks for your help!

Although I don't have it on my '06, a reversing camera is always helpful when you need to back/line up to certain things. Since you are ordering a custom build, just check it now because getting it later is always a whole lot more and sometimes even cost prohibitive. Which was the case in the previous generation. Also make sure you check the trailer hitch option now. Getting one later will be more and if it is like the last gen, dealer has to program something for the lights and the transmission... Not something your local U-haul place can do for you. Lastly, you might want to do a search on PASM and towing in this forum. I don't tow with my Cayenne but I think it is highly desirable to have it for towing.

thanks wilfred. I'm definitely getting the trailer hitch and PASM, but I'm thinking that I'm going to pass on the air suspension. I'm worried about longterm durability of the air suspension, and I don't need ability to adjust the ride height.
anyone with a 2011 with the reversing camera? can you actually see the tow hitch?

I have towed a boat for 4 years with my 06 Cayenne........I have been lining up the rear windshield wiper hub with the front boat light..............and eyeballing it by myself........a camera would be huge.
Air suspension......another costly expense in my opinion and should just be done on turbos and P line of cars......
I use the Cayenne as my office and utility car, its my first P car and I know I want a turbo car and a classic too..........928s brought me into Porsche, not the 911(but I want one!).

That was my thought as well when I bought my 06, expensive option and expensive parts to replace down the road. But with 19" wheels and no PASM, there are times (like bumpy roads) I wish I had it. That said, it is fine 90% of the time.
Btw, it wasn't until this thread I realize you can now get PASM without air suspension on the new Cayenne. I guess @ $2k, it's cheaper than before. IIRC, it was $3k w/ air. But it is now $4k w/ air...
