OK, I like this a lot. The compass module is about $100, if I have Nav working properly now will this still require dealer programming? I suspect from the above the answer is yes...

I have a 2005 CTT. I had the dvd nav and the head unit with no tele buttons. I wanted to get the Mobridge system bluetooth and sirius. The point of my story is: I did not have the compass on my cluster. I bought another headunit that had the phone buttons (so it would work with bluetooth), and with the new headunit I got the COMPASS in the cluster. I did nothing else but change the headunit from an older one with no phone buttons to a newer one with the phone buttons.

Did your factory options include the compass?

I am going to need programming done after I install my hitch, perhaps it is worth a try to just install the compass unit and have that recognized during the process.

Here is the parts display for the compass sensor (4) and bracket (5). Does anyone know if both parts are required in a car that was not optioned from the factory for the compass display? Since the bracket is less than $3 I think it might be easier to just purchase it!~

Better question - where does this install?

I dont think my car included a compass option. I do not see it as an option on my window sticker. So I am guessing it can be "turned on" via dealer prgraming. My new head unit must have had it programed already,

I pulled the trigger on the module and bracket. Will report back on the results.

The parts finally shipped from back order. I will have them tomorrow. This thread https://rennlist.com/forums/porsche-...hlight=compass suggests that the compass module installs under the back seat, is that correct?

I have a feeling I am talking to myself here, but lets see if anyone has their ears on. I got the module and bracket today, and took a look under the backseats to see if there is a mounting location there. From my eye, I do not see a wire or location under the passenger bums.

Anyone know where this module mounts?

From what I remember when I asked I was told it was under the rear passenger seat but your diagram implies under the dash

Well, I have good news and bad news. Thanks to mudman2 I learned that the compass module does have a home under the passenger's seat in the same plastic module that holds part of the Bose sound system.

But... There does not appear to be support in the wiring harness for the module! I looked around under the carpeting quite a ways and found no connector matching the compass module. So I went to the parts lists and had a look see. It does show that the bracket I bought is needed 03-10, despite the instructions above suggesting it is not required. But I cannot find a wiring harness section in the parts list that would give some data about what harness is used here.

Perhaps someone has access to a real dealer parts system?

The plot thickens! Could this be the correct location in my 2006? It shows in the shop manual as upper rear roof. Yet there is a procedure (linked above) that insists this module is under the passenger seat.

The wiring diagram is interesting but does not seem to help in locating the plug for the module. Is it really possible that Porsche would eliminate the compass module wiring connection for cars that did not have this option on the build list?
