Default WTB: 2009 Porsche Cayenne GTS - Manual Transmission

Hello everyone, this is my first post. I have always found useful information on this website and finally am getting involved. My wife and I just had a baby and my Carrera 4S is not the typical car to drive your family around in. She actually suggested I get the Cayenne in stick but didn't know if it would be fun to drive. I found a 2009 Porsche Cayenne GTS (with the manual transmission) and I am considering test driving it this weekend. Any thoughts and feedback is much appreciated. 2009 Porsche Cayenne GTS

Fun car for an SUV. Won't match your 911 or my 930, but sure makes going to the Lowes much more fun. I love my '08 GTS with 6-speed manual transmission!

It's too bad that FUN only has 3-letters because the 6-speed manual GTS is a blast to kick around town.

Unfortunately, if the manual pepper is used as a daily driver in and about traffic, you may not be too happy about choosing a stick. Remember, this is definitely not a nimble 911.

Last minute test drive of both Tip & Stick made the decision for me in choosing the Tiptronic. It's too bad since the stick could have been had for about $8K less!

Not and owner of a GTS but I am also interested in picking one up in the not to distant future.

From others on this site I have heard that you should negotiate really hard on the purchase of a stick GTS.

These SUVs won't be purchased by the soccer moms that wanna look cool due to the stick.

There is a very limited market for the stick version of the GTS. Don't let anyone tell you that the stick GTS is worth more because it rare (look on autotrader). The exact opposite is the case.

If I went to the dealer to buy a stick GTS, I would offer $10k less than asking price, give them my phone #, and expect a call shortly.

I'm not taking anything away from the vehicle (hell I want one!) but the market "is what it is".

Happy hunting.

The price seems high for a private sale. I payed a lot less for an 08 auto with half the miles and a Porsche certified warrantee. Maybe tx is a different market but I suspect there is a lot of negotiation in that price.

I am actually considering selling my Manual GTS, as my new commute includes the I-80 stretch through Berkeley into Oakland. I rode my bike to work into the City (SF) 2-4 days a week at my last job, and the commute into the City from Marin rarely slowed to the point where you had to put it into first gear on the GTS commute days.

The heavy clutch/low first gear is a wicked combo in stop and go. I think this is the only achilles heel of the Manual, as otherwise it is a blast.

That is a rather nice example with the painted wheels.

After seeing the car up close thru your link, it's quite obvious that the previous owner had the taillights tinted black. If you decide to purchase this car, you may want to have the seller give you a new taillight set since these are definitely ticket magnets and may be illegal in your state/province.

On the upside, the mags are the rarer Sport Plus 21" rims that come standard on the 2009/2010 blacked-out factory 'Porsche Design Edition 3' GTS. A bugger to clean but definitely different!

nice gts, loaded except leather dash?
I agree with the 10k less bid. if I had to sell my 08 for some reason, like a new '11, I'd hit the first 60 bid I saw. tell them 55k and go for a bite to eat.
I saw those wheels on a local all black turbo, very good combo.

Test drove the GTS on Sunday, I was really impressed by the car. All your feedback was very helpful and came in handy during negotiation time. The Cayenne didn't have a single scratch or imperfection and the owner was a really nice guy that took care of it. I really didn't want to reach into the 60's but it seems worth it. Again, thank you all for your feedback and suggestions. I am going to wait a week so any further info would help.

That looks awesome, if I didn't have to worry about stop and go traffic anywhere in GA, I would buy it. I chose the '11 Turbo and it's still awesome, now only if they had it in a manual(and if it wasn't my daily driver) . Maybe in about 4 or 5 years I may try to find a old '08-'10 GTS if they don't come out with a new one(hoping they will). Again, if you are going to buy it for a daily driver, make sure you aren't going to be in much traffic and if you are ask yourself if you could stand it. My brother had a GT500, but because of him having to clutch so much, he got tired of it and switched to a SL550, so just make sure. Just my 2 cents, you don't have to go with what I say, but the stop n go traffic avoidance is a good suggestion, just go with whatever makes you happy though.
Edit: Just saw the page, it has a radar detector hardwired, tinted windows, sport exhaust system, all the options you would want(except for reversing camera, but you could live without it), apparently it has Porsche entry and drive system(keyless entry system), at least that what it says in the description I think. That GTS is awesome, and remember it is your choice

Made an offer of $62,500 a few days ago and no response yet. What do you guys think? I haven't found a cleaner one for less money.

If you love the car, buy it otherwise you'll be kicking yourself in the head because you lost the car you loved for a few thousand dollars. IMHO, $62K is a low bid for a private sale but I'm sure the seller would easily give it up for about $65K. Sticks don't sell as easily as the Tips.

Here's an '09 GTS 6-speed with 10k miles in Florida that I found with an asking price of $62,900. I'm sure that $60K will take her home. It may not be as well equipped as the other one but it's definitely within your price range.http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail...5&aff=national
