Default 04 cayenne "s" battery replacement in key fob

Hi,

How do you replace the battery in the key fob? You have to be right next to the car to use the unlock. I am pretty sure you just pull up on the bottom of the panel under the crest but i don't have the ***** to try. Any help would be great.

Thanks,
Scott

That's it. It just pops off.

With a fresh battery the range will increase to at least 5 feet.

10' if it's not raining
15' if you also stand on one leg with one arm up in the air and sing "Somewhere over the rainbow"

Does anybody know why the range is so bad ? I have been told a number of different reasons - it is annoyingly short. As is the general design / size of the key.

My cells have been replaced at least twice that I can remember as well as one of the remotes -- I have never noticed any great improvement. On other makes I have found the batteries to last a very long time -- 5-6 years or more. So I believe that often the P dealers are just replacing good batteries to indicate they are trying. Same with the 996tt

There have been several issues regarding remote range "over the years".

A few things to check:

1. Make sure the antenna is not coiled up but rather laid straight out. Some units were delivered with the antenna wire coiled up.

2. Make sure the tray where all the antennae live (under the rear spoiler cover) has NOT turned into a fishbowl. Some units were known to collect water under there, which is something that antennae/electronics do not really like all that much.

3. Did I forget to mention you should be wearing ruby red slippers when you sing?

Thanks guys. FYI the battery is a CR-2032 3v. It was $3.50 at batteries plus, i guess its a really common battery.

Good to know they are CR2032, I bought a pack of 2 for $5.99 @ Target but later found this place when I bought some LR44, which is another common watch batteries for all kind of stuff. (Especially in kids' toys.)

Shipping from Hong Kong or China so it took like 2 weeks I think. But it is unbelieveably cheap. I have no problem with the LR44 I bought so I guess I will be buying the CR2032 too. I know couple of my other cars' remote and garage door opener use CR2032 as well.
