Default Clear corner turn signals are a pain to install!!!!!

Got my Suncoast clear corner turn signals this week, decided to try the install today.... Removed the 5 torx screws below in the wheel well and pulled back the lining.

There are two (size 25) torx screws that hold the turn signal in place, one on the bottom which is simple to remove, and one on the top which is IMPOSSIBLE to remove without a small (No larger than 2" in length) torx screwdriver. I don't see how it's possible to get to it.

I gave up and put everything back together with the old turn signals until I can find a smaller torx screwdriver or a different way of accessing that last screw.

Anybody have any ideas??

It does take some tenacity to get them installed but you can do it. You do have to pull the fender liner back to gain access, I had to tape the torx bit to a socket and use an extension to get in there. Don't give up just yet.

00Jay,

You'll need a socket screwdriver kit. It's basically standard screwdriver bits (in your case Torx) that mate to a ratchet style miniature socket tool (See enclosed photo).

Without this tool, getting the factory screws off would have been near impossible. I also suggest you wear rubber nitrile gloves since the liner can be your worse enemy when attempting this job.

Try searchiing the forum....quickly.....before MadFox gives you a STFF "Badge of Honor".

This has been discussed dozens of times and there are some threads with excellent pictures and things like flexible screwdriver tools that make it easier.

BTW, what were you expecting, a 30 second job like a Carrera clear signal install?

Thanks a mill Andy and Km1.8t.

LTC, I searched, I swear! I actually found a reference to 6speedonline which....completely ignored the fact that you must use a ratcheted or flexible torx screwdriver.

Madfox: I should have negotiated the install of my sport technos too.

Since when did "close thread" become available to members? I own a few forums, and I've NEVER wanted to give that power to my members.

Nah you didn't search because there have been quite a few tips on doing this that might have taken the sting out of it.

Of course, if you searched on something like "corner turn signals" or something like that you wouldn't have found anything because there is no such thing.

But congrats on getting it done.

As HD2pct indicates, and unbenknownst to me; after demoing my installed clear corner "side markers", I realize that they are not turn signal indicators at all.

Anyway, bought a set of ratchet socket torx screws and it was still a pain in the *** to get to the passenger side upper torx bolt. Job is done.

The search engines on most forums are very particular when it comes to how you phrase your search. Not to worry.

When you have a chance, please post pics of all hand scars!

My solution - take the slotted tab that engages with that upper torx screw that is a killer and cut off about half of the UPPER part of that tab. Then you can start the screw, then slide the marker into position underneath the screw, and put in the bottom screw then tighten down the top.

This solution saves a lot of skin and it makes it safe for kids to be around while you do this job. The amount of slot engaged by the screw is basically the same so you will not have lost any mechanical strength.
