Default Rear seat entertainment, function.

I just took delivery of a 2006 Cayenne Turbo which have the Porsche rear seat entertainment system. It has one screen mounted behind the right front headrest a remote control and a cordless headset. But I can not get it activated. I am not finding the DVD player-unit for it either. I have checked the manual and it refers to the dvd unit, but I can not find it. I have also changed the batteries in the remote control.

Could anyone give me a newbie crashcourse in using this system? Is the Dvd-player behind the screen itself, if sow how do I acess it?

This is a seldom seen/discussed option here in the forum.

Can you see/find the module shown on the right of this picture?

Second question.
Are you sure it is an OEM Porsche rear seat entertainment system and not an aftermarket one?

If it just behind the driver seat, and not both, it is aftermarket.

Although, noting your location, I'm not sure if ROW RSE systems are different.

Have you checked the (front and rear) armrests? Really...

Problem solved.

The system is just like the first picture above. The unit on the right in the picture is removable and is situated on the middle-rear seat when in use. The previous owner neglected to hand it in to the dealer along with the car.

Told you to check the rear seat armrest....the thing in the middle.
FWIW, that design was a last minute absolute POS...I'm not sure how many sold, probably less than were scrapped.

The newer ones (self contained in rear seat) are a bit better, but rear seat video was not part of the original MOST design spec for the system....

I have it in my 2008 Cayenne GTS. The DVD insert/eject is located on the right hand (passenger side) screen's top. You just need to tilt it forward to press eject. Unfortunately mine has a DVD stuck in there and when I load it it says "DVD Error" and won't eject.

Near the "oh **** handles" in the back, there looks like a place to plug in headphones.

I was hoping there would be an AUX input or something so I could plug in a Playstation back there. But mine is basically useless right now.
