Sounds like a real scam. The seller has only a feedback rating of 3 and is requesting full payment within 7-days after the auction closes. Nice find!!

Check the VIN... That will tell you

Well, if you look at the pics it's obviously not an 08.

Scam written all over it.

I asked the seller a question about the year and pictures.

If you look at the "free history report" it is for the 08.

We will see if he gets back to me.

Odd, vehicle history report shows:

VIN: WP1AB29PX8LA33932
Year: 2008
Make: Porsche
Model: Cayenne S
Style/Body: SUV 4D
Class: SUV - Premium Large
Engine: 4.8L V8 DI
Country of Assembly: Germany
Vehicle Age: 2 year(s)
Calculated Owners: 1
Calculated Accidents: 0
Last Reported
Odometer Reading: 15

Pictures are definitely of a 03-06 Cayenne S.

Looks to me like the guy just does not buy and sell much on ebay. That should not be your only indicator of "scam or not scam".

We will have to see if he gets back to my question. Possible they decided to sell the 08 and he posted pictures of the 04 by mistake. I can't remember how ebay does the uploads. Can you only see the file name? Small thumnails? I could see where a bunch of file names of "Cayenne 1, Cayenne 2" etc or small thumbs of a beige Cayenne could be mistakenly uploaded. In which case he needs to proof his ad better.

O.K. Dad.

Maybe the "legit old man" who's married to the "real little old lady" misplaced his spectacles when he authored the auction ad and used the wrong photos.

We'll give him a chance to redeem himself...

I think that would make more sense if the price was not so high.

Hello,
Is this auction for a 2004 or 2008 Porsche Cayenne
S? The auction title states that the auction is
for a 2008 Porsche Cayenne S, but you have a 2004
Porsche Cayenne S in the pictures.
and his response:

VERY KEEN OF YOU DR. WATSON..............MY CELL NUMB ER IS 516-XXX-XXXX......I DONT RESPOND TO QUESTIONS BY EMAIL
What a douchebag.

Yep. Douche. Probably does not respond by email so that there will be no records of all the lies he will tell you about the car.

Does any of this really matter if he's trying to get $42k for an '04 (pictured) CS?

He is about $15k higher than market value on these things.

I'd say yes. Strike 1 was the auction title, strike 2 was the VIN # which shows the car as being a 2008....
