Default Need Insight: Storage Space - E63 vs Cayenne

Hey Guys-

Getting closer to moving forward with an addition to the stable.

My decision is down to Car Vs. SUV (Cayenne S vs. E55/E63).

Will the Cayenne provide any additional storage?

Yes, on a couple of fronts. The rear seat width is much better in the Cayenne, especially if you are dealing with a car seat. The Cayenne will accommodate three or two plus a car seat much better than the Merc.

As for rear storage it is a toss up if you consider the trunk capacity to the rear storage of the Cayenne from the seat height down. However, the extra space of the cargo area in the Cayenne allows you to carry larger objects or stack things higher, when needed. Also, unless you get the fold down seats in the Merc the Cayenne totally beats it in capacity when you fold down the seats.

This is my feedback based on personal experience and owning both right now.

I will be putting two car seats in rear of car. This addition is meant to be driven all year, but more for me in the winter when the 996 is in storage.

I love the E55/E63. But the Cayenne seems to have a couple benefits:

- AWD - I live in Cleveland and we get some serious snow
- Ability carry larger objects with seats down.

Might need to expand the search from Cayenne S to Cayenne Turbo. Only way to get both worlds of E63 and the SUV.

I prefer the Cayenne over the ML.

That is just crazy talk there. Hell, I even ride my motorcycles year around here in a snowy state.

Haha! If you live in, say, Denver, the winters are a hell of a lot more amenable to bikes and top-down motoring than in Cleveland!

Agreed...if you haven't owned a Cayenne before I think you will be very happy with it, especially in terms of vehicle size and performance. Aside from all the shananigans that occur here in the P!g Pen...the Cayenne is the ULTIMATE compromise vehicle on the face of the planet!!!!!

Okay, there I've gone and done it again...release the squirrels!
