New Yoko's For the Cayenne S
#17
I have Goodyear G3's on my CS and my Jaguar XJR. I need to buy summer tires that are good in the rain - especially the last few years in the NE. The Pirelli's that came on both my Porsches and the Jag are great tires when new -- but both the Jag and the TT could trash the rears in 8k - the CS in maybe 12K.
Why do you suppose the CS is so hard on tires??
I have never liked Michelin tires because of the poor rain performance.
Although, I do have them on my convertible -- because they are quiet.

These Yoko's have deep tread and channel the water out very well.
As far as the Cayenne wearing out tires...I had mine aligned at my inde Porsche shop and when we put it on the digital alignment rack the specs from the factory where way off, especially rear toe. I know have it aligned with in spec but much less toes and more from camber. The tires are wearing very well so far.

I've had these Yoko Parada Spec X's in very heavy rain and in light snow and they performed great. The only time I've had poor performance was in 1"+ thick ice going downhill (that was not fun) but that would be asking way too much from an All Season tire for good performance on that stuff.
Again, almost 1 year and I'm very pleased with these tires, would buy them again in a heartbeat.

Glad you like the Yoko Pradas. I was lucky enough to get the Conti's DWS 275/40/20s last month from Discount Tire. The ride was a bit rough at first, but the tires were pumped to 50psi in the rear. Took them down to 47psi, and they're quieter than the Conti 4x4s that were on before. Don't think you can go wrong with either set's of tires for the Cayenne.
The N-spec tires have ridiculous tread wear ratings....especially if you use your Cayenne as a daily driver.

38 PSI front
42 PSI rear (w/ 3 people & 2 luggage)
49 PSI rear (max load)
I run 42 on the rear except when I'm trailering and then bump it up according to the load. I suspect if you're running 47 w/ a light load you would still have a rougher ride than you should. (I am not a tire expert though).

I've had my 20" Yoko Parada's on since last fall and they have been great in both rain and small snowstorms. I drove about a 1/4 mile down my in-laws dirt driveway through 6" of unplowed/unmarked snow. Dropped her into low, locked the differential and she was a monster! I love 'em!

*UPDATE*
The Yoko Prada X Specs are holding up great.....8000 miles on them and they remain very quiet and are hardly wearing. Handling and ride, wet or dry is awesome...seems better than the Michelin Damaris that came on my Cayenne.
I highly recommend these tires.

I had Bridgestone Dueler Alenza 275/40R20 XL installed yesterday at Costco. I order them on line and they shipped them to their store for installation (no cost for shipping). The total price was $1128.31, the break down of the cost is 259.99 per tire, 1.00 per tire for disposal fee, tire installation/balance fee 14.00 per tire, state of California fees and taxes 98.35. Their is a $70.00 coupon reduction for this month. This also inclueds a Costco Road Hazard Failures Warranty, lifetime tire rebalancing/rotation and nitrogen tire inflation. The UTQG rating is 400AA (W) for this tire. They did a great job installing them no damage to the rims or the big red calipers. I have not put any miles on them yet so I will report back later. The ride home was nice and smooth. Bridgestone has a 40,000 mile Warranty on the tire and it is manufactured in the USA. This is just some information to help others in picking their tires for your Cayenne.....

I've had Yokohama Parada spec x's(22's) on my cayenne for three years now. About 35,000 miles on them and still quiet and smooth. Little wear starting to show on the front two so I'll probably buy another set this summer. Great tire. I had them on my LandRover LR3 and they were great on it as well.

Just an update that I put in another thread too:
Rated at 440 (?) treadwear.
They've been good tires (quiet) and hold the road VERY well even in aggressive driving.
There have been several threads on the tires, do a search on "prada".
Edit: Just checked my tires again, they currently have 25k mi. on them and I'm about 2 - 3k mi. from the wear bars. I have not babied these tires, aside from trips in the twisties in AR and the Smokies I drive it fairly aggressively. I don't have any noise issues with mine but I do have the FS Cat. Bypass pipes on.
A couple of times for a few hundred miles it would feel like they needed balancing but it went away after a short while (maybe the car was parked too long??).
I would not hesitate recommending these tires to anyone but would make sure they understood these are not 40k mi. tires.
