As "luck" would have it, I lost my gas cap over the weekend (tether was broken when I bought the car). I was scheduled to have a another key programmed at the dealer today anyway, so I had a new cap overnighted to the dealer as well.

While they were working on the key, they also pulled any error codes. Interestingly, there were none, even for the missing cap. On most cars (M-B and BMW) we have had, even failing to fully tighten the cap will result in a CEL. Not the Cayenne apparently.

So it does not appear there are any faults in the system, although now I wonder if the missing cap didn't trigger one, what this means.

I received my Durametric cable yesterday, so later this week I will try it out and see if there are faults registered with it.

I agree that the CEL should have lit up like a christmas tree after driving a few days w/o a gas cap. Some cars and trucks will show a fault if driven at a higher-than-normal speed over a speed bump.

I would ask the dealer to check the Fuel Evap system and do a pressure/vacuum test.

New to my car. 2004 CTT 90K

Yesterday I filled it up for the first time with BP 93 Octane and it gave me a CEL.
I've got P2189 and P2187 (Bank 1,2 too lean at idle)

hmmm

There isn't a rough Idle though and it's running fine... and my Gas Cap seems tight.
