Default Coolant Pipes - Not Just a Cayenne Problem

Looks like our Cayennes are not alone. Our BMW brothers are suffering the same problems.

This a cool video of an indy shop in northern San Diego County. It's called All German Auto. I have had my cars worked on there. They do good work. Martin is a very personable chap. They designed a pretty cool pipe to fix the problem. Porsche could have done something similar if they didn't put the friggin starter under the coolant pipes.

Pay special attention how he removes the coolant pipe. I wish I saw this video when I replaced my coolant tubes. So simple. One of those, "Why didn't I think of that!" moments.

Enjoy!

Very nice solution indeed! I got a '04 cayenne, and after reading some horror stories I'm just waiting for my coolant pipes to fall apart . I wish a similar solution was available for the Cayenne.

At least with the Cayenne the parts are only a little over $500 if you do it yourself. Nice solution to an expensive repair.

Has anyone posted some DIY pictures for this somewhere? I'd be interested in the procedure for Cayennes, to see how complicated it really is. And $500 is indeed reasonable.

Smart solution for sure.

The BMW looks like it has one metal pipe that leaks from the faulty seal.

Unfortunately the Cayenne has several plastic pipes that split/crack and requires its own custom repair.
