Post Was this anyone on here? DFW North Tollway Accident - Near Miss

How about that Cayenne!

http://jalopnik.com/5550345/video-ca...strophic-wreck

"In this Jalopnik exclusive video — the driver of a Pepsi semi-truck is cut off by an out-of-control Nissan Sentra, overturned and then thrown across the median into oncoming traffic Wednesday morning in Dallas. Update.

We received this video from the North Texas Tollway Authority of an insane crash occurring on the northbound lanes of the Dallas North Tollway just after 10:00 am on Wednesday. In the video it appears as if the Nissan Sentra doesn't make the turn and hits the truck, bounces off and then over-corrects, causing the Sentra to then reconnect with the semi, sending the unladen truck into the inbound lanes.

When the truck crosses over a Porsche Cayenne amazingly manages to swerve out of the way and avoid being rushed. Only six vehicles were involved and just two people were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries."

What a swerve! The Cayenne driver did good by not touching his brakes thruout the entire go-around! Thanks for sharing!

Wow pretty much everyone on that other side of the road looked like pros. Sentra driver was probably on the phone...

Oh no...that's not a Porsche Cayenne...that is only a VW with a Porsche badge, if you don't believe me just ask ltc

this is what a site member wrote although I am not sure what PTM, ASR & ABD stand for but he makes an honest observation of the accident in video.

"Nice death defying swerve, Porsche.

The engineering weenies at Porsche are constantly concocting alphabet soup features like PTM, ASR and ABD... and I always laughed about how over the top they were. Like, just call it traction control...

But then you see a Cayenne hustle like that (and with some white collar Duke of the Cubicle Feifdom, not the Stig behind the wheel) and all of a sudden the over-the-top engineering weenies make complete sense. An SUV being able to do that kind of accident avoidance at highway speeds and not lose control or roll is doing a lot of technical stuff very right.

Well done, Texan Cayennista. And well done, pasty German engineering weenies."

85% VAG content, 65% VAG labor...it's less Porsche than it is VAG.

Again, a nice maneuver, but not exactly death defying. There appeared to be room to let the weight transfer settle before the next turn was required.

I have a hard time seeing how PSM/ABD/ABS/etc could possibly overcome a center of gravity issue.

It was a good piece of driving more than the vehicle IMHO.

I was just recalling this old crash and wondering if any of our Rennlist Cayenne owners have claimed to be the driver who missed the truck?

The 2nd video is the same as the 1st, it was just so long ago that the link's gone.

I just figured at some point one of us would claim to be or have meet the person driving the Cayenne.

Speaking of DFW. There was a very large funeral procession today with perhaps 50+ motorcycle officers escorting. Anyone know who it was that was laid to rest? I remember vividly that video. Watched it over and over in amazement. No one came forward with knowledge of the driver at the time.
