Default Planning to buy 22 inch rims. Need some advise.

I'm planning to buy 22" for my 05 S. I want to get some idea on how the ride is going to be. Currently I have stock 18". If I can get the price lower then it will be a great deal. I am not sure what syle this is but it is not OEM. What do you guys think?

Since you asked what we, guys, think, here it goes:

I think that 22s look tasteless on a Cayenne and these particular ones are just a bit ghetto in my not too humble opinion

+1

22s are very, very large... I think they look a little cartoonish...

Ok great! So 20"s would be ideal right? I am only going to be using my 05 S during nice weather as I now have a 330xi as a dailiy driver.

I have 19" Cayenne Design on my 08 CS. To me, they look just fine and I think 20" would look good too. Ride is not bad either. I saw a black GTS with black 22" and it looked like a monster truck to me. That, and the fact that I'm not a black wheel fan or multi color wheel fan makes no joy for the photo. Never ridden on 22" but I'd bet they are somewhat harsh with low profile rubber. I'd check to see which wheel (19" or 20") gives you the best rubber options and prices.

Ideal for whom? If you like the look of 22s, you should get them. It's your car after all. Unless, of course, it's for The Wife. Then size doesn't matter as long as they're pink

PS. My P!G has 20s and they're ideal for both of us. Daily driver.

I for one like both the rims and the size I have been looking for the same style rims myself. Here is a pic of similar ones on a cayenne:

As for 20" vs 22" I'm not sure what I'm going for (also looking for rims at the moment). Just google some images of cayennes with 20 and 22" and see what you think looks best.

I have both. A set of 22" CEC c856 Black with Machined lip with Michelin Diamaris skins for summer and a set of 20'' Victor Turismo black with machined lip with Hankook Ventus all season tires for winter. The ride on the 22"s is just fine. On an all Black 08 GTS the single steel band and the red calipers showing is pretty attractive. The all black rim and machined lip is pretty understated- much less than a chrome wheel.

Random thoughts. The 22" do not leave much tire to protect the rim so you need to watch the curbs much more closely than with the 20"s. I suspect the 22"s in winter with potholes would be susceptible to damage which is why I have the winter tires and wheels mounted on 20".

You need to use one of the tire/wheel calculators to be sure you keep your speedo in an acceptable range. A minor shift in outside diameter can change your speedo accuracy by a few mph.

The 5 spoke design makes it easier to clean the inside of the rim. The design in your picture would be a bear to keep clean.

Offset is a key in choosing wheels to clear the calipers- be careful. Wheels that are advertised to fit the Cayenne may not be for the S or Turbo and the Brembo brakes.
If you don't buy a wheel designed for the Cayenne you may need to by tuner lugs. Both the CEC wheel and the Victor wheel are designed for the Cayenne and I use the factory wheel lugs.

I change these out by hand myself- and cringe when I think the dealer may have to touch them.

In looking at your pic I seriously doubt the offset would fit the Cayenne. You need 45 back- 50 front to clear the brakes. A 35 offset will clear the brakes on a Base. Ask me how I know this and I can show you pics of my Base Cayenne sporting the 20" ADR wheels I bought for my 08 GTS.
All in all - its up to you as to what looks good but its the vehicle that will have the final say on what you buy.

Well I picked up a set of 22's at a local Porsche dealership. I couldn't believe the difference.
