Porsche Cayenne reliability - let's get better stats
I wanted more up-to-date car reliability information that included actual repair rates. So in late 2005 I started getting people together to make this possible. TrueDelta now updates actual repair frequencies, not just dots, four times a year, to report on new models sooner then track cars closely as they age.
An owner recently asked me to do more to provide reliability stats for the Cayenne. Just a matter of getting enough owners involved. So I'm grateful to this forum for giving me permission to post about the survey here.
To encourage participation, participants receive full access to all results, not just those for the Cayenne, for free. I'll share results, once we have them, in this thread after each update.

I doubt it's anything you didn't do right. The server uses a standard PHP function to verify domains. If the domain in your email address isn't properly registered, it will return false. Could this be the problem?

Updated results for many years of the Boxster in about two weeks.
I remain very interested in including the Cayenne. The 2006 model year is now nearly halfway, and other years aren't far behind.
If you run into any problems signing up, contact me--there's a link at the bottom of every page on the site. I'll quickly fix any problem on my end, but first I need to know there's a problem.

The 2004 and 2006 are now 3/4 of the way, and the 2005 and 2008 are half way.
Starting this month we have a new question to measure, as objectively as possible, the severity of a problem. Many people have been asking for reliability stats that weight problems by how severe they are, and once we have enough responses with the revised survey we'll start providing this.

I feel like this survey is always only a few vehicles short.
Even if you had 20 or so for each year, can you really statistically pull accurate reliability data based on such a small sample?
Although, it's already widely known that the P!g is not reliable and has many common faults.

I've been through this progression with many different vehicles. We gradually get to the minimum, some times quicker than others. We're now very close with the 2004, and the 2006 isn't far behind. The way to a larger sample size is to offer results based on a smaller one.
Many people would shoot for the moon from the start. They tend to give up before getting off the ground.

The 2004 is now a single car short of the minimum needed to get started, and the 2006 is only six short.

We have our first reliability stats for the Cayenne based on owner experiences through September 30, 2011. With a repair frequency of 211 repair trips per 100 cars per year, the 2004 is worse than the average. This is based on a small sample size, so the result is not precise.
Those of you who have been helping, thank you, I truly appreciate it. We'll have further updates later this month and in May. With more participants, we could cover all model years and provide more precise results.

We have updated reliability stats for the Cayenne based on owner experiences through September 30, 2012.
With a repair frequency of 112 repair trips per 100 cars per year, the 2004 remains worse than the average. This is based on a small sample size, so the result is not precise.
We'll have further updates in February and May. We'd love to provide more precise stats and cover more model years--just a matter of getting more owners involved!
