I had the exact same problem when I put different tires on the rear and front.
They were both the same size, but the slight difference in the two brands caused the car to think it was in snow or something and the PSM would flash and slow the car down (as if in snow).
At first I thought it was all the ArmorAll on the newer set of tires I put on (got them off kijiji - the seller had ArmorAll'ed the TREADS!!). I thought the tires were "slipping", but it wasn't that.
4 new tires of the same brand and the problem went away.
