I'm guessing this is the coil problem????
So I was heading home to grab a bite to eat a little while ago... I was on the freeway humming along when I started to notice that my 04CS was running very rough. No lights (at first) just no power on acceleration and running rough. So I take my exit at reduced speed and was able to limp home but just barely. The CEL started flashing on the last mile of my journey but the only warning displayed besides the CEL was that I needed to fill up. Several weeks back when I had my coolant pipes replaced, the service manager at Boardwalk Porsche in Dallas mentioned that his tech saw occasional misfires and implied that new coils were imminent. I have a quote from sunset and am prepared to go ahead and get the new coils/plugs, I just wanted some(relative) assurance that these symptoms were typical of cracked coils BTW I have right at 64k and as far as I know these are the original coils
thanks for your help

Wow - they all went at once? I had ONE go bad - and noticed some "dieseling" so I brought it in and they replaced it - but was pretty subtle....
Hope you had some warranty action...

Usually you won't notice the cracked plugs until they f up the plugs...

Which is why you should ALWAYS change the plug when you change a coil, no matter what.

Porsche really has the plastic thing down well.
Just look at those coils...each one cracks in the exact same position on the coil in almost the exact same way.
Now THAT is truly a repeatable design, well done.
IIRC, the same plastic is used on the coils as is used on the plastic coolant tubes...excellent choice.

Took my '06 CS in for it's 40K service and was told they needed to replace all 8 coils, under warranty thankfully. Only symptom I noticed was an occassional rough idle when cold....here I was blaming poor "Billy" down at the Sunoco station for having water in his tanks.
