Replacing Stock Stereo Unit & Value

Replacing Stock Stereo Unit & Value
Hi everyone.
I am considering upgrading the stereo in my '05 Cayenne.
So far - I think I'll have the speakers in the front replaced with Focals - probably the K2's or the Polyglass (any recommendations between the 2 types is appreciated)
The second dilemma is - should I replace the stock head unit with an aftermarket one. I guess my concern is - will replacing the head unit greatly affect the resale of the vehicle down the road?
Thanks.

Do you have the Bose audio option?
If so, you might be a bit "disappointed" in the results of upgrading transducers, simply due to the presence of the 'Bose EQ' in the DSP amplifier
(yes, all highs, no lows, must be Bose...heard it a million times).
You can keep the stock system and simply remove the Bose EQ by installing a Clean Sweep unit.
As far as diminished value, Cayennes tend to depreciate about as quickly as all modern mass produced Porsches.
As long as you don't cut up the car, I doubt the modifications will reduce an already diminished resale value...and of course you can do an installation and reverse it at a later date thru careful wiring management.
Of course, you probably won't recover the cost of your aftermarket system either, if that is a concern.
The dash cutout will support a single or double DIN headunit, so there are no problems there.

Thanks for the information Lewis.
Actually - the Cayenne came with only the stock CDR23 - so it's as basic an audio set up as can be.
Do you think if I replace just the speakers with Focals (looking at the K2's or polyglass) - that running those off the stock head unit will make much of an appreciable difference?
Thanks,

Yes, it will make a difference.
Audio is very subjective, so I'm not sure what you're looking for.
The speaker locations are actually pretty good, or as good as could be negotiated wtih PAG at the time of design.

Lewis:
Just looking for nice clean tight sound. My days of driving the volume levels up until my ears bleed are are pretty much over - except for the occasional hit from the 70's
