Default COILS???

Hey guys my wife called today after leaving home and said the Cayenne was shaking really bad and wouldnt go. I went and traded cars with her and i drove home about 20 miles an hour. It was running rough and the check engine light was on. Does this sound like the coil issue??? I ordered new coils today and new spark plugs.
Is there anything else i need to change out???

My wife's 06 did the same thing to her, only 26000 miles, it was shaking so violently the guy in the car next to her was waving for her to eject! I guess he thought she couldn't tell there was something wrong. Replaced all 6 coils, runs fine except when you first start it up, it sort of sounds like it is missing. I do not get a check engine light and it goes away once warm...any thoughts.

Word of caution to V6 owners who powerwash/clean the engine bays. This can lead to failure of coils as the water likes to pool in the coil "holes", especially the back 2. Once in there, it can rust/corrode the coil, and can actually break when you try to remove it.

Thanks for the advice.
Do the coils just pull off of the plug???

That's why I put up a "word of caution", as not a lot of people are aware of the extra damage it can cause, and it seems like the V6 Cayennes are a bit more prone to said damage, especially in the ignition coil ports.

Im waiting on my spark plugs that should come tomorrow, but i removed the coils today after i received my new ones and the 2 aft coils were covered in white powder corrosion and a little rust, the front 4 looked great and none had cracks that i could tell. Will let you know how it runs when i replace them and the plugs.

I had this problem and it was the part that connects to the spark plug on one of cylinders.. i apologize but I dont recall what the part was called.. cost $100 and my pal at the dealership had it installed with n/c for labor.. it took a whole 5 minutes to do.

I had a similar problem with mine, it was shaking little but took in for the warranty repair, found 2 or 3 bad coils w/ cracks.

Not sure why these coils go bad so easily...
