Newbie: Questions and pics
Hey guys,
happy to join the 955 club!!! My main issue "for now" is the radio! I have a basic crd23 with bose speakers all around, yet my buddy's PCM has much better sound? WHy is that, I thought we had the same stereo?
also, the bass, treble, etc gets reset back to zero by itself?
Thats it for today....
TIA

The times they are a changing...
...whatever happened to the right of passage? The echo of FORE reverberating through out the mountain valleys, a sweet smell of BBQ sauce permeating the air, the red glow of coals covered with ash beneath the grill?

same thing happens to my radio every once in a while. Just one of the little gremlins that likes his music flat. We battle back and forth for a bit, then he listens to it my way for a bit. its a give and take thing. i dont **** him off and he lets the pig run with no "!" for a while. a small price to pay.

I know there was a update for the bose amp in 2007 via the PCM, not sure if the CDR23 can do this update, i.e. be able to read data CDs.

Welcome to the pigpen. I like the Cayenne in white - it looks good.
I've dealt with the people at Becker a few times for the 996 stereo, and they are somewhat helpful. They aren't exactly speedy, but they might be able to help.

So that would be a cost of $150 (maybe more)for them, plus shipping back and forth...approx $250.
OR
I have it replaced for a new one on my extended warranty but pay a deductible of $250.
If thats the case, maybe I can update it for something better (oem)...any thoughts?

Well... ltc is the guy to give you advice if you want to change or upgrade the system. He knows a thing or two about them. I think you'd be stuck with the PCM 2.1 system, which isn't bad, but isn't as nice as the newer systems (no bluetooth, no iPod connectivity). I think an OEM upgrade would also be quite expensive. There are ways to tap into the MOST system and put in a non-OEM system, but it's not something you'd want to have installed at Best Buy, if you know what I mean. You'd want somebody who knows Porsches and the MOST system.

What killed him was finding out what was really behind the curtain at Porsche....sort of like the Wizard of Oz (no, he never saw that movie either).
Imagine a kid (OK, not your average kid, he was "special"), Porsche posters on the wall, Porsche models, spending time at a Porsche dealership just looking at cars, etc...who grows up and one day (by random luck) gets a chance to design electronics to be installed in all Porsches.
Pulls the project off, gets a private tour of Zuffenhausen as a surprise birthday present, buys a Cayenne (the first vehicle which had his electronics installed) and.....oh never mind, brings up too many bad memories.
