This is probably stupid, so I apologize in advance. My 06 S didnt come with any kind of manual but they are on order. Meanwhile, I do have the Nav DVD but cant get it to work. It seems to me I put it in the CD slot above the LCD screen, no? It says something about a bad CD and it skips the track, but I never get the nav going. if that isnt where I put it, how the hell does it work? Thanks in advance, and sorry if its stupid. (I did do a search and saw a ton of pcm problems but no basic how-to's)

When I put the DVD in there it sits there at "Nav system starting" and thats pretty much it. I guess Ill have to wait for the docs this week.

Did the DVD (Its a DVD right, not a CD) come with the car, or did you buy it after you got it? Could be possible you bought a newer disk than the car can work with. If you hit main+trip on the PCM at the same time, what is the first number that shows up?

What date do you have on the DVD disk? should be in the mm.yyyy format.

 

I can check that in the morning, thank you! well heres the thing, I got the DVD (its a DVD) off ebay, and when it came in, its a DVD-R copy of it. GRRRR. That might be the problem, I need to get my hands on an original one.
However the DVD does say '06 which is the year of the car. So which is best, get a recent one and upgrade my pcm system or just get an '06 original and call it a day.

Speaking of P!G ownership, yesterday It says to replace battery in remote. So I did.
Today its telling me to do it again. wtf.

The new 8.2009 I think it is, is just out I believe, $300 I would go for that, you will get the latest firmware for the unit, etc.

Now that you say it is a dvd-r, the problem is it is a bad copy, I have seen that before. It just hangs on the loading screen, not on my car of course. It was backed up wrong, get your money back by filing a dispute with both pay pal and eBay, i am guessing he is thinking you are not going to say anything, if you didn't pay much for it.

I think for 2006 you need to have the 3.0 or higher firmware in your PCM.

 

So here I am with a 2009 loaner and I was going to see what the numbers were on that nav DVD... but the dvd player isnt under the seat. Where the hell is it on the 2009? *sigh*

And yes, youre right, Ill be seeing if I can get my money back from the fleabay auction, since he never said it was DVD-R which isnt allowed on ebay. If not, Ill file a complaint.

 

2009 model they changed to HD based PCM 3.0 Touch screen. Just a drawer there now
