Default Steering Wheel Controls

My wife recently bought an '06 Cayenne. She was hoping she could change between radio stations via the steering wheel controls, but the up and down buttons just 'seek'. This sounds like a really stupid design IMO. Any way to change the controls so she can switch between preset stations via the steering wheel? Thanks for any help.

That was one of the first things I noticed too when I got my Cayenne. From what I was told on this forum, you can only seek. This ranks high on the dumb scale in my opinion.

To add insult to injury, they include 2 buttons on the back of the steering wheel just to turn on/off the lighted buttons on the steering wheel. To me, that's unimportant and yet they devoted two buttons to it.

The steering wheel controls on my 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee were more intuitive than the current ones in my '09 Cayenne.

Check your manual for the system - I believe that those buttons can be set to seek or scan through your presets via a preference.

On the left side of the wheel is a button labeled "man" for manual. Hit this button to change between seek and manual tuning with the arrows on the right. Oh yeah, don't forget to .

I did try but didn't see it. Maybe I'm just being dense here. On the left side of the steering wheel I have Phone, Volume Up, Volume Down, Mute. Like what you see here. Where's the "man" button?

I think I tried the "man" button with no luck. My wife should be getting home shortly, so I'll try it again.

morewaves, I'm talking about an '06 Cayenne. It sounds like you have an '09, so I'm sure the steering wheel controls are slightly different. I'm not positive though.

And off in the distance, if you listen carefully, you can hear Larry laughing from beyond the grave...

Yup, looked through the manual and couldn't find anything. I also tried the 'man' button and all the did was switch between seek and scan. Didn't do anything with the preset stations.

Are people using their steering wheel controls to switch preset radio stations? Or is this just a waste of time for me?

I have been able to figure out how to get the radio to switch between the presets using the steering wheels controls either on my 09. I'm not sure it was ever designed to function like that.

I think for a Kia this would have been a flaw, but there is just no excuse on a luxury vehicle IMO. I mean, who really wants to go from 99.1 to 99.3 to 99.5 to 99.7 etc etc.

Ask your wife to hit the "man" button and see what results you get!

Yea i tried it yesterday and it either switched from 99.1, 99.2 99.3 etc or to Scan, so my question is: why is there a Scan button on the other side of the steering wheel if the man button already takes care of that???
