Default 09 question

Any suggestions on how one mounts the front license plate? Have an email to my salesman (120 miles away). I thought it was by removing the cover above the radiator, but I got stymied in that the cover did not want to come off. tia

I think you use one of those 997 front plate kits. I've had a couple of them sitting around from 997's I never put plates on, when I checked the front bumper of the pig the curvature appeared to be correct for the 997 plate kit. The kit comes with 4 screws - drill some holes in the bumper and screw it on. I haven't put a front plate on mine and haven't had any problems with the cops here in Idaho or around Portland/Salem where I spend quite a bit of time. I looked into those bumper plug things, apparently the screw needed for the pig is a different size than the screw on the 997 - so I dropped that idea. I keep my plate in the back where the spare tire sits, it's a good place for the damn thing.

thanks rich, should have mentioned that the plate is screwed to a plastic backing plate that has four plastic studs that also have special nuts that slip over from the back of the grill and anchor the backing to the grill. Just not sure on how to gain access to the back of the grill when the front plate is in place. The close up shows the two of the posts. The nuts can easily be attached when the plate is free. Hands are too big to attach from the back when in the grill position!

Snap on the loose pieces(snap the tabs on the actual bracket into the slots of the standoffs, the grill will fit into the "V" slots of the bracket),and align them horizontally, and then hang it onto the grill openings, and as you put the screws in and tighten them, they locate themselves vertically to hold the bracket, and secure it via a pinch fit to the grill, and to remove, they alternately turn as you unscrew the screws that mount it.

speed demon, I have done the first part, put the tabs on, and located it correctly with the tabs in the horizontal position. Not sure how the pinch fit works with the screws tightened (attaching the plate to the bracket?). Cannot get the tabs to lock in the verticle position.

Making progress, thanks!

Thank you Demon! After thinking it through I realized the four screws I got were to secure the braket to the grill, NOT secure the plate to the bracket! Just need to find 4 screws to attach the plate to the bracket now. Thanks!

What's the PN on that thing? I might try and pick one up, that looks like it avoids drilling holes.

Gotcha, it's actually a pretty slick setup. Glad you were able to make it work.
