Default Thinking of buying 04 CS....couple questions...

So I have read everything about avoiding the 04 CS unless under warranty. Would you guys still avoid these if all the repair work has already been done? I guess the main things are the coolant pipes and the transaxle. Any thing else to check for? I am looking at 2 cars, both with around 40k miles on them. Look forward to peoples thoughts.

I have an '04 Cayenne S, and overall it has been a very good vehicle. I've had a few of the common problems and repairs, but it has been very solid. It's just shy of 60,000 miles.

I wouldn't rule out a 2004 just because of the year. If you have complete maintenance records (including those that show that the TSBs were done) for the vehicle and feel it has been properly cared for, this makes a big difference. A good PPI makes a big difference. A vehicle built later in the manufacturing cycle is probably a better bet. You can find this information on the door jamb, I believe.

As with any used Porsche, the newest you can afford is usually a better bet in terms of reliability. One thing to keep in mind is that even if you find a good 2004, the maintenance for these vehicles is expensive. As long as you know that going into it and you are prepared, you could have a good experience.
