Default How to Leave Radio On?

Does anyone know of a way to override the radio turning off when the car is off (for example leaving the radio on to tailgate)?

You can manually turn it back on even with the engine off.

Frankly the sound quality won't be good from a "tailgating" perspective - just a bunch of bassy junk, IMO. Obviously, sound-wise, the system was designed for passengers *inside* the car.

We use -

a small Honda generator (almost no noise)
Recotron self-powered speakers with RF link, with the transmitter attached to either: a Pioneer handheld XM receiver, or an iPod (with the line interface - not through the headphone jack)

Just a suggestion.

Yeah, I know I can just turn it on again manually, just not that cool to be hanging out listening to music and having it cut off every 10 mins or so.

That feature is a design requirement of the headunit, in order to prevent the battery from being drained completely.

FWIW, there is a diagnostic command to override the timer (used for development).

Not to hijack the thread, but since we are on the topic ... is there anyway to set the "turn on " volume control. Meaning the volume will always be at a certain volume when the radio is turned on, no matter what the volume was when it was turned off.
Lewis?

Thanks.

There are S/W defaults for that which are available under diagnostic control commands for the amplifier....it's sort of like programming the amplifier to "volume level 11" and leaving it there...during executive test drives...by senior executive's wives....not that it's ever happened before.

Again, the system was specified to have the operation it has...

When using this feature, was the vehicle also designed to have the "check battery" light come on 10 minutes into the 15 minute cycle?

Actually, the introduction of MOST (and the potential for battery drain) was the reason for the 2nd battery being designed into the early P!gs.

In the end, it was dropped, but IMHO it was a nice option to have...

Couldn't agree more - old beta had a second battery, although no spare tire. Interestingly, my dealer tells me the battery is fine even though it kicks death warnings after 10 min. Yeah, sure...

Would you kindly link to the instructions on how to do this? Was not able to find it in Google. I like going to the drive in movie theaters and like the boss stereo way better than having to bring a Bluetooth speaker or having it shutdown every 15min also having the car on is annoying with a the dash lights blaring in the dark glaring in the window makes it awful trying to watch the already dim movie haha.
