I go to the main menu and press set. I cannot pull up the tire settings. I just get trip starter and PCM. What am I doing wrong and how do I turn off the TPMS for winter (switched to my non-TPMS equiped Winter wheels recently).
TIA!

Sure, you read TFM. But while reading it were you twirling a freshly killed chicken around your head? I bet not. Try it again, this time with the chicken. It's not documented in TFM, but that chicken must be spun at greater than 20 rotations per minute and not greater than 30 rpm. Then, and only then, will the hidden secrets of TPMS be revealed to you.

I just went and looked at the truck's tyre settings and could not find where one would turn off the TMPS in my 09 version truck.

If i get snow tires/wheels w/out TPMS will I be hurting the 04 Cayenne Turbo at all? How anoying is the TPMS? I know I am the only one that can answer this but is it worth $100/tire to not have to put up w/ the annoyance?

ljugete - I think you misread your manual. You go to tpms and then scroll to settings, select winter or summer and then let the system learn. Setting must be done while stopped, the display will say "learning" and it will take a few miles for the system to read the pressures. After that you are done.
TURNING OFF TPMS:
See your dealer it can be done easily with the PWIS computer every dealer has.
Note there is no danger of breaking anything if you fit wheels without TPMS, you will get an annoying warning in the display however. TPMS is a nice feature as far as I am concerned. Around here, winter and early spring is flat tire season and it is nice to have a warning that I've picked up a nail or bolt in my tire. OTOH nothing bad will happen to your car if you don't install the sensors or turn TPMS off to avoid the warning in the dash display.
Regards,

both times in my tpms cars, it has alerted me to a slow leak (nail). I think it is worth it.

I'm hijacking a bit - after I switch the tyre/wheel types in the menu, I did see the message that the system is learning. I then received another message ~10 miles later indicating that the TPMS system is off. Does that mean that it is still learning or that it couldn't 'learn' then new TPMS and it shut itself off?
I tried to change the types of wheels/tyres again in the menu to re-initiate the learning message, but it has not come on yet. Is it possible that the system is still trying to learn? I have driven about 40 miles so far...
