Thermally Insulated Glass - PJ1 - Question
I have this option ordered and coming on my new Cayenne. Does this interfere with the operation of a radar detector? If so, does it have panels or clear spots in it that can be used to position a radar detector for good use?
My MB ML has the IR blocking glass, but there are two different almost invisible panels in the windshield which are clear of the IR blocking coating to allow the use of a radar detector.
TIA for your response.

OK. Let me preface my post by highlighting that I don't KNOW anything... though I strongly SUSPECT some things to be true. For example, I suspect that it is true that: 1) monogamy is an idea invented by women, and among other things, 2) when ever possible ALWAYS track someone elses car before you track your own car.
That said, I have a Valentine V1 mounted above the rear view mirror in my '06 Cayenne with, among other bits of kit, the Thermally Insulated Glass option and I get STRONG frontal radar signals that scare the be-jesus out of me on a regular basis.
Therefore, it may not... though I don't KNOW anything.

I don't know about the radar detector but it will damn sure screw with your pike pass. I have to open my sunroof cover and wedge my pike pass in the roof for it to trigger the receivers on the highways here in OK in my '08 TT. It states this might happen in the manual when you have the treated glass.

I have the thermally insulated glass in my CTT. I have a k40 detector, but I did run my V1 in there a little too. The V1 is a bit limited, but it was still OK. At the top center of the windshield, there is a section that does not have the insulated layer. This can be used for an EZ-Pass (toll) tag, or a radar detector (but mounting may be a little tough since it is over the mirror.

Sorry to resurrect, but is this standard on the CTT (in 06) or an option that would have been listed on the window sticker? I am considering replacing my windshield now and want to make sure I get the right part.

Not standard. It was a pricey option.
