Default Replica Winter Wheels

Has anyone had any bad experience with Replica wheels. Thinking of buying a set of 20's for winter and would love to hear some pro's and con's.

Thanks,
Ron

I actually own a set of Italian made replicas for my winter wheels on the 996. They look identical to OEM wheels, they are the same size and offset, and they cost roughly 31.5% of the price of four new OEM wheels. I paid about $1,200 for a set of four, while the OEM wheels are roughly $950 each. They take the OEM factory center caps.

Given the choice, I'd buy them again. I have had no issues at all.

Thanks. If you don't mind me asking, do you remember the company that you purchased them from? Was it on the internet or someone local to you?

Why not just purchase a set of OEM wheels for $1000 to $1500 for a set of 4 (they will even install TPMS for you as well).

There was an ad in the latest issue of Panorama from a Porsche dealer offering those prices...

BTW FWIW and IMHO, I would not go with 20's for winter (sub optimal contact patch/aspect ratio) and more susceptible to pothole damage to the wheels (due to smaller sidewall).

OEM wheels for that price would be a great deal. I would have done that had the option been available for the 996.

I bought mine from www.wheelenhancement.com.

They mounted and balanced the tires and shiped them directly to my house, ready to put on the car.

Tirerack.com also sells packages, but they don't have Porsche replica or OEM wheels.

Usually once a year, the Porsche dealers will do a large order for winter wheels/tires and get the best pricing....IIRC, that's how Larry got the 18" OEM winter wheel/tires back when he had the P!g...

I have a great set of winter wheels/tires (less than 200 miles), OEM 18" that I am willing to part with...if there is not too much hassle involved.

I bought them thinking I would use them.....

PM me.

If you read the September issue of Panorama, Sunset Porsche is selling OEM 18" wheels plus winter tires for $1000 -1200. Excellent deal.
