For one thing I believe the Pepper (I don't call it a pig) is a more utilitarian vehicle than the X5 so the ride will be harsher.

As for the tire pressures, I just looked at the TSB on Renntech.org and the pressures for a "S" are:

Al season/winter tires 35/39 and 39/50 (full load)

Summer tires 38/43 and 39/50 (full load)

Congrats and welcome to the Pepper Barrel.

Thanks Bill!

As delivered the pressures were 35F 39R.

With the pressures at 35 F&R the bounce from the rear is reduced.

The operators manual lists pressures for heavy and moderate loads. Assuming the driver is not a heavy weight is my S now a Piglet?

At these tire pressures the ride on this S is cushy compared to my X5 4.4 (18" wheels). Not good or bad just different.

Now for the next question...the engine is very quiet with the hood closed but open this sounds like a solid lifter motor from a 70s vintage muscle car.

Also, there is a whine coming from the engine compartment....changes with rpm.

With the hood closed both sounds are hardly noticeable...standing next to the S... but the whine is noticeable in the passenger compartment.

NORMAL?

After reviewing several You Tube videos these noises must be normal. The whine was heard on both the 6 and 8 cylinder engines.

It would be nice to know the source.

Welcome! I hope you enjoy your Pepper! (those who refer it as a pig are describing its driver)

It's the #1 Sports SUV in the World!

The pressures are on the inside of the drivers door opening. You can play with the pressures if you disable the tpms so you do not get a warning light.

Label indicates 38F 42R with 3 bodies in the car.

Does not indicate with just 1 body.

I have never experienced a car manufacturer who rates tire pressure this way.

No tire pressure monitors on this S.

They base their tire pressure ratings on feedback from Tony Soprano...

BWAHAHA

I don't think so. Tony is 100% Italian and the Cayenne is 50% Slovak and 30% German and 20% unknown.

Its that 20% that worries me.
