Nope.

The lower pipe went right after one of the violent tranny clunks.

Well that may be a big problem

As far as the pipes go, you cannot see the coolant pipe(s) so how do you know which one went ?

I smell $$

I suppose you were manual shifting per the book
I read through the section of the manual on towing this weekend and it doesn't say anything about manual mode (that I could find). I read the tranny section as well... Is there an appendix on towing I should be reading? Manual mode seems logical now but, my book doesn't seem to have anything in it.

I had them clear out the codes (only a torque convertor code) and adaptive stuff but, it still clunks while driving around town once it warms up.

If your in automatic it will go to 6 which does not have the stength to handle the load. My guess is that you have bent your tranny

I'm guessing it had a valve body issue before-hand as it does hard down shifts every now and again once it's warmed up (before and after I hooked the trailer up to it). When the trailer was hooked up it was violent. Now's it's back to it's normal self... smooth as silk until it decides to bang a gear downshifting (every now and again).

The dealer is checking with Porsche to see if they'll help cover a new tranny. They seem to think they will help some.

Even though I think it's the valve body, I think I'll spend a couple grand more and get the new tranny, especially after the big bangs we felt towing. I don't trust it anymore in that regard.

I feel kinda stupid now for sticking it in drive but, live and learn. It's a light-weight Aerolite Cub and @4800lbs loaded I thought we'd be OK but... it does make more sense to manual-mode it.

Howdy -

Sitting in Seattle and found puddles under my CTT while driving around today. It must be the dreaded coolant pipe leak.

I will get it towed home to portland tomorrow and am considering doing it myself.

Anyone in Portland ever do this?

Thanks in advance.

Hello guys!
I'm new to this forum and owning a Cayenne. Can anyone tell me if 957 Cayennes (mine is GTS) have the same problems as 955, such as coolant pipes, ignition sparks and coils, tranny/ hydroblock problem?

Yes I am afraid so, they still use Plastic pipes in production 955, not 957s

Lost all of my coolant on Saturday.

Half way through the coolant pipe upgrade and have a couple of questions.

My valley had coolant in it but I can't find an obvious crack in a pipe. Is this fairly common? Is ther something else I should replace while I am in here?

I have heard about some "t fittings" on the back of the turbo motor? Anyone have a part number, diagram or picture of these?

Any other source for the leak I should at least double check?

Thanks.

Did we get an exact date when the factory stopped using plastic coolant pipes and started using the aluminum pipes off the assembly line?

The reason I ask is that my Porsche dealerships head mechanic told me that the 2006 Cayenne Turbo (late 2005 build) I am about to buy have the aluminum pipes installed from the factory. This would insinuate that the Coolant pipe TSB for cars "up to" MY06 means that the MY06 cars is not affected.

Is this true or should I still be worried the car might have plastic tubes?

Then why is the TSB only for cars up to MY06? Does Porsche consider the later cars to have trouble free pipes?

What sources indicate that the newer engines have plastic pipes and not the upgraded parts installed from factory? That sounds kind of unlikely to me.

Edit:
As i mentioned; my Porsche-mechanic said this particular MY06 had the aluminum pipes installed from the factory. I am not able to check this for myself for a couple of weeks as I have not yet taken delivery of the car.

It would be nice to see some kind of documentation/evidence of such claims as we all now internet rumours can be very inaccurate at times.

I see but a quick look at he PET-program seems to indicate the cooling system is redesigned for the 07 and later engines. It does not have the exact same pipes as the 2003-2006. Perhaps they are plastic pipes that work?

I suppose I am in the middle of trusting my Porsche mechanic and the rumours and will have to dive in and inspect the pipes when I get the car. Mirrors are hanging ready in the garage.
