Default Radio went out...now it's back

Got in to take my daughter to school this AM and all the preset stations worked, the NAV worked, but no sound was coming out. This lasted about 5 minutes then a message came on the screen saying that the Navigation was reloading. When it finished "reloading" the sound came back on and I haven't had trouble the rest of the day.

What the heck?

Anyone else have any issues that sound like this?

You just described a common theme in Beta models. you can go for a year and it will not happen again but sometimes it will. A restart or n restarts will normally bring it back.

ps. Oh and it is most likely a deliberate act by a cart hauling ex Bose contractor (we know who you are and where you live)

No, buy, buy, buy.
When VAG kills the P!g, then they will all be collector's items.

As long as they kill it after the updated one comes out, so I could grab one of 'em pork chops for m'self. All of the issues will be worked out by then, right?

It happens occasionally. It's kind of like a nervous tick, really. Once you learn to live with it, you get used to it and everything's fine.

Mine hasn't done that in months... I think...

On the bright side, my wife learned how to put the gas cap on properly.

Not restricted to this particular symptom, either. My CTT's (fortunately rare) hiccup was to simply stop responding to any controls (volume, channel, on/off, etc.) until I shut it off and restarted. At least it hasn't set itself to "MAX volume" before doing so ... yet.

There's a very similar problem happening on '07 -09 BMW 3 series with the Logic7 system. You start the car, turn on the radio and the only thing that displays is the date/time, no sound whatsoever, nada. We found the only way to get the audio to work is shut off the car, get out, lock the door, wait 30 secs. and open/try it again. I haven't heard of this not working for those that have tried it (on BMW's). BMW has known about this since at least Oct. of last year but still no fix out yet.

I haven't read of any iDrive vehicles suffering from this.

My wife's '09 BMW 328 Conv. has done it since she picked it up last Oct.
