Would you? I don't know enough about Chinese cars to make a call. I know that they can manufacture a high quality product. We actually have a manufacturing plant in China and the quality of the products is excellent. I don't know what kind of quality control is applied to the Chinese auto manufacturers.

Do you suppose the BYD version of the Cayenne will have any issues towing a trailer with LED lights? I assume it has bluetooth and all the other goodies you would want and expect.

It's probably a nice vehicle, I am just not conviced...

Did you see the Chinese version of the HUMMER H1? Apparantly many of the parts are directly interchangeable...

$11,960...2.0L engine seems right, although there are some very nice 2.0L engines out there for them to clone, the VAG 2.0L is a very good engine.

This is almost too good to be true, an amazing once in a lifetime business opportunity... be the person with the exclusive US import/distributor rights to this vehicle and brand.

And besides, all you have to do is slap a Porsche crest on it and who would know the difference? Certainly not the majority of the new Porsche buyer.

After all, the Cayenne is 85% a Touareg with just a Porsche crest slapped onto it, remember?

We have manufacturing plants in china as well . Quality control is a big issue, and is something we as end-consumers should be aware of.
My rule -of - thumb for this would be.....wait at least 12 months before purchasing ...

I have read an article sometime ago that there are 200~300 independent auto manufacturers in China! Many of them are just a few guys making few cars a month selling to the locals. These cars are not much more than a golf cart with doors and I believe you can buy them here in US. While couple dozens are real auto manufacturers making real cars. As far as quality goes, it is absolutely scary how fast they are improving. It took the Japanese 20? 30? years to be where they are at in the US or global market. And it only took 10 years for the Koreans. Without any doubt, the Chinese will be a major player in just a few years.

Going back on topic, sadly, BYD happens to be a major player. Although they have a very good history of copying many other cars, I'm pretty sure the picture above was photoshopped because that's an official picture from Porsche catalog...

Here are few more article about BYD:
