LOL.
I'm still here. I spend most of my time in the other forums poking around
I'm double-thinking my ideas on a Cayenne though. I'd definitely prefer a Cayenne S for the V8 (and I know the fuel mileage is barely different between the two.) Only reason I was considering a V6 was the hope that it wasn't plagued with all the problems I read about here.
If I'm stuck with the problems either way, then it's a Cayenne S... or something else entirely. The wife definitely likes the idea of a Cayenne, so I'll continue to poke around and see what's out there. But I'm less excited than I was before I made this post If the wife's car breaks down... I pay twice. First I get to pay the repair bill (if I can't fix it myself, which it doesn't sound like these are very self-serviceable), then I pay again with the grief and guilt to the wife.
The financial aspect, I can handle. The grief and guilt aspects are what I try to keep limits on!

An '06 Cayenne S can be had for $32-35k, w/ remaining factory warranty.
Pretty much all the issues will work themselves out prior to 50k miles.
The cars are very serviceable. A lot of us do our own brakes, rotors, oil changes, and more.
Except for the very rare, xmas electrical fire, (which only seems to happen to Canadians), the cars are more reliable than most luxury SUVs.

Just get the V8.
She'll love it.

If you have your heart set on a Cayenne for your wife, make sure it was a CPO warranty. As mentioned, you can't swing a dead cat without finding a Cayenne S...
Make sure it has had all TSB/udpates applied.
Make sure the NAV CD's (preferrably a DVD based unit) are up to date.
Ask when the battery was replaced....then no matter what they say, install a new one.
Cayennes seldom leave you stranded (although they will make you stand outside of the vehicle in the rain, wishing the remote key fob actually had better range)....and don't mention to your wife that she will be sitting directly on top of the 12V vehicle battery, she probably doesn't need to know.
As for your first time Porsche purchase, I would have thought a 911 would be a better first time experience, but to each his own.

It has happened twice. In each instance, I have gone out to the garage and tightened the cap and the light goes off. I think I may order a replacement cap from Sunset and try that. Maybe the cap isn't sealing properly afterall...

Currently on the fence between finding a super clean, well-documented 951 + having some cash leftover for fun, or putting it all down on a new (or CPO'd) Cayman S.
I've always had a soft spot for the 944 Turbos, a good friend of mine has one which I love... but I *really* like the Cayman. Just trying to decide if it's worth breaking my personal rule of "no loans on toys" over.
