Default Alternative Source for Porsche ATF

Hi: I need to change the ATF etc in my 958 and I found that www.autohausaz.com offers 2 alternatives to the VW Audi Porsche branded bottles, both alternatives answer to the Porsche P/N 958 300 540 00 and BOTH sell for less than $ 12.00 per liter. Check it out.

That is a good price on Type T-IV.

My understanding is that Mobil 3309 (typo'ed above as 3390) is the same as both Toyota Type T-IV and also the Porsche stuff.

I use the Type T-IV in my Lexus, and Aisin makes the transmission in both that Lexus and in these Cayennes. So it all makes sense.

BTW, I see that Aisin also gets into the rebranding game, selling its own ATF, which I will guess is exactly Mobil 3309. So for all of the above (Porsche, Toyota, Aisin, VW, Audi), the fluid is actually manufactured by Mobil, to their Mobil 3309 spec, and bottled, branded, distributed as the others.

Yes, used Mobil 3309 on the Piggy several years ago for the AT flush/filter replacement.

I have about 2k miles on the ECS kit with redline. So far no issues. But winter is coming.

I agree that there is no reason to throw away money just because something says Porsche on it. Especially when the transmission is Aisin (the #1 auto-trans manufacturer world wide, Aisin transmissions are used by 55 auto manufacturers). There is nothing magical about Aisin transmissions, they are everywhere. Toyota owns 51.9% of Aisin with most of the rest owned by Aisin company itself. They make tons of manual transmissions also, including a 6-speed used in 911s for a while. There's not going to be unobtanium in the trans fluid of any Aisin transmission.

Ravenol TF-0870 is also ESSO-spec 71141 ATF. Hit up Blauparts for this German stuff...

Has anyone run Valvoline MaxLife ATF on Cayenne and had it tested? It lists Dexron, Mercon, JWS 3309 and many manufacturer specific types. It would be quite convenient to have just one fluid for all the cars in the garage.

The transmission in the 955 is Japanese and made by Aisin. Part is the Aisin AW TR-60SN/09D. You don't need to use Porsche-branded ATF. You can use these ATFs in your transmission without concern: Toyota Type T-4 = Mobil 3309 = Porsche-branded ATF. $60 for 6 quarts on Amazon. I replaced the transmission valve body in my 2004 CS with a rebuilt Revmax VB and used the Toyota Type T-4. 15k miles later, no issues at all.
