Question Do you really have to use "Porsche" ATF????

Ok guys and I know some folks are partial to different fluid brands...

But, I did some research and best I can tell the "Porsche" brand ATF for the Pepper is Mobile ATF 3309. Can anyone out there concur or correct? (I did a search and couldn't find anything definitive)

Mine's in the shop right now having the driveshaft and transmission control valve module replaced , and since they're in the tranny, the fluid has to be replaced... $300 for "Porsche" fluid...all together now "STUPID". That being said, the shop I take it (not the stealer) is willing to work to help me out...

Porsche ATF $35/liter x 9 = $315
Mobile ATF 3390 case of 12 = $65.00

Yes, you do.

Porsche ATF $35/liter x 9 = $315
Not frying your transmission = Priceless.

Bump...anyone out there know the origin? Again, all research I did points to Mobil ATF (would make sense because of the oil they recommend).

Check price online from Sunset P-car in OR. Bought my Porsche Brake Fluid from them. Great price. Assuming the same discount on ATF.

Tell 'em your a rennlister and a PCA member, if you are.

Where do you folks get your Porsche water? I've been told you can only wash the car with Porsche water - but I'm not sure where to get it. I've heard it's only $12 a liter.

I had the tranny control valve replaced (under warranty) about 5 mos. ago, no price info on the invoice though. I checked the part no. for the (9 ltrs.) of fluid through Get PorscheParts.com and found the MSRP per ltr. is $33.68 and their discount price is $28.63.

In the past Pentosin (? sp) has been used. I think 11S is synthetic and 202 is mineral, I may have that backwards though.

We have Porsche approved rain on the South Shore, so it's free.

Thanks for confirming, will tuck that away for any tranny fluid changes.

Thanks, great info.

However I doubt I'll be changing the tranny fluid on the Cayenne. It's a complex process involving getting the fluid to a set temp. range in order to get the fluid level correct (via a fill plug on the side of the tranny). I've done this before on both a BMW 840 and a Toyota Sequoia (that didn't have dipsticks either) and had to have the level adjusted this way, it's not a simple process.

I hear ya! Not something I want to tackle either...but always good to know an alternative (if you're not using the dealer shop) to help with parts cost on any work that's being done.

I know I have saved a ton of $$ on things like this in the past with my 951, just knowing what part/fluid is compatable (like a $650 vacuum valve that I got as a VW/Audi part - EXACT same part - for $57.00 from the VW dealer)

And $57 seems like a rip too....

I fear not the fluid level change when I get there. That way when I do it, I will know it is done right.
