Are there competiton pads available for Cayenne's?
I am looking at installing a set of Cayenne calipers to my street / track 951 but am wondering if anyone knows if there are race pads available for these? Do any of you guys have any experience or knowledge of this?
Thanks

Again, when talking racing/competition brake systems or components, cooling should be the first one on the list.
That having been said, there are far better OEM Porsche (and non Porsche) brake systems/components available than those from the Pig......

Ok to clarify, I am in possession already of a set of Calipers from the Turbo Cayenne. This is for my track 951, not a Cayenne.
Disregarding cooling which I'm addressing, all I wanted to know was there anyone who had used or had knowledge of comp pads being available. I'm not sure how much these calipers differ from other 911 variants? Perhaps they're not vastly different at all?
Any advice is appreciated.

My research yeilded little results. I am going to have my 04 Turbo on the track this weekend and just upgraded to some Hawk HPS pads. I know, they are not really an agressive track pad and I was going for some HT-10's but when some of my other instructor co-harts upgraded calipers on their older 911's they actually went with street pads as with the increase in caliper and rotor a more aggressive pad was not needed. I think with a lighter 951 you may be able to start with something like some HPS pads and see where you are at.

Well one thing I've found out is that apparently the Cayenne Turbo calipers have 3 ceramic pistons and 3 s/steel ones. Not sure how true that is but that's what a vendor told me. As opposed to a GT3 version with all 6 made of ceramic. How much difference this makes vs price and the nature of my race events (short sprints of 6 laps), I'm also not sure. Add to this that it would be a superior caliper than my old school Big Reds, + the rotor would be larger (greater stopping power vs the offset of worse inertia and unsprung weight), and that they were designed to pull up a much heavier car than my 3000lb 951. Throw this all in a pot and come up with a possibility that these might just be a good upgrade? There are quite a few older Porsches and other fast cars using these as a cheaper 6 pot Brembo modification.
Having said all that, I may be going to a Tilton type setup and just choose to go the whole hog with a race or GT3 caliper and therefore just sell these off. When will it end.......?

VERY unique setup prosposed - I would be concerned about brake balance (bias valve?) due to the unknown-to-me piston sizes / fluid flow pumped per pedal stroke with the Cayenne calipers.
I maintain that since my 2650 lb / 514HP 930 does very well with Big Reds (blacks, actually) up front and 944T rears --- that your current setup really should be wholly adequate as-is.

Well there's a big weight difference in your car and mine Craig. I know this is a bit left field but I also know of guys who've done GT3 calipers on their 951s and lived to talk about it. My car is virtually a stock car weight wise although I have the rear glass hatch (heavy) removed and replaced by a lexan hatch. I will also have the front steel hood replaced by a c/f one, so that will take a few lbs out, but it still has leather interior, p/s, a/c, music, sound deadening, carpet etc.
I would only do this while swapping out to a Tilton type pedal + twin m/c setup so balance should be attainable.
I picked up these Cayenne calipers for along the way, so I am just sussing out the potential possibilities here.

We have to make some custom spindles too but that's all in hand as well. It will be a work in progress type thing, so it won't happen overnight. Still waiting for the new motor to go on the engine dyno. Scary thing is that this motor could eclipse 700hp so that's why I'm concerned. Obviously I can run it at considerably lower power levels but it will be a large jump up from the 350ish that I have now!
Thanks for the interest/info Craig.
