Locking Doors When Refueling
I have only had my '08 Cayenne S for a few months now and am finding it a little quirky that I cannot lock the car while I am refueling it. I've tried to do so and the alarm always seems to go off. I read the manual and can't find much at all on the topic. My spouse says that it's a setting that is common on Porsches. I mentioned it to my dealer's service department and they say they've never had anyone ask to have it set that way. I want it to lock because I don't feel safe leaving my doors unlocked even while I am standing next to the car at a gas station.
Has anyone figured out how to bypass or reconfigure this setting? How did you do it?

Don't feel safe when standing next to the car? Wow... I grew up in Dallas, and I don't remember it being that bad!
I haven't ever tried that. I usually lock it after I fill up if I need to walk into the store.

Am I missing something, in case of an emergency isn't your Cayenne the best escape vehicle , why do you want to lock it? 2nd option: you can move to Boston area, sometimes I forget to lock the car when parked...

well it depends on whether your trying to keep people captive in your car or not, personally I would put the back seats down and lock them in a cage until you can get them in your basement.

Speaking of locking things. Is it possible to lock the fuel door when in the vehicle with or without the vehicle running? When I go through the laser car wash (no brushes) the pressure sprayer always pops open the fuel door.

Fond memories of the 'how do I install a laundry rack in the back of my Cayenne'.
Sure, post the pics of the lawnmower and snowblower.

I'll have to post them this weekend. They're on my computer at home.
I'm on the road right now, getting ready to pick up the Carrera and have a nice road trip home...

And to the OP, yes, you CAN bypass the rear fuel door input to the alarm system, but your dealer may not wish to do this, since it is not a supported 'standard' vehicle configuration.
