Default 08 Cayenne S Deal

Hi guys
Am looking at my dealer and he's got a sale (calls it an economic stimulus package on his 08 inventory) and so i stopped to see what he had. Am looking to replace my 03 BMW X5 4.4i with a Cayenne SUV but am not as familiar with the Cayennes. Anyway what would be a good price/deal on this vehicle:

2008 Cayenne S tiptronic, black leather, black, satelite radio, navigation, BOSE® Surround Sound System, Bi-Xenon Headlights with Washers
Floor Mats, Heated Front Seats with Heated Steering Wheel, Light Comfort Package in combination with Comfort/Sports Seats or Driver Memory Package
, Moonroof, Porsche Communication Management (PCM) 2.1, Roll-up Sunscreens, Rear Side Windows, Satellite Radio - XM, smokers package.

Dealer is selling for up to 15% off MSRP. Car sticker is $72k with 69 miles on it and was used as a dealer demo, I believe. What should be a good/fair price for this car? Should I shop for an 06 instead?

Since they are looking to really move 08s, I would say you have a little more room to negotiate. I think even on 09s, you can get a very good deal.

That sounds like a stimulus package designed to stimulate the dealer. You should be able to do much better on that car.

That sounds like the price I paid for my Cayenne S in May 08 before The Crisis. Maybe offer him 20% off MSRP, maybe even a little bit more?

If the dealership is already offering it to your for low $60s to begin with, I would offer them low $50s and expect a deal at mid $50s. If it was brand new, I would not have gone that low but if since it is a demo, I am sure they can write off the loss somewhere else. Also, see if they can throw in the extended CPO warranty since it is used.

As far as an 06, I would say it will cost anywhere between low $30s ~ low $40s depending on mileage & condition. So assuming you find a comparable equipped 06 with low mileage & great condition for low $40s and assuming you can get the 08 for mid $50s. Is $10-15k justify? Only you can answer that. Oh, other than the facelift, the pre 06 has a 4.5 liter/340 hp V8, the 08+ is 4.8 liter/ 380 hp I think.

Couple options I don't see on this 08 is the PASM/air suspension and tow package. I have an 06 without neither but there are times I wish I had the PASM. On bumpy roads, I feel every little bump on 19" wheels. So if this 08 has 19" or bigger, PASM is nice to have. Tow package, I don't tow so I'm ok, but if you do, be sure to get one that has it already, getting one afterwards is very expensive and PITA.

Hope that helps! It's by far the sportiest SUV out there!!!

The CPO warranty is a great idea! Push for that.

Red face Economic Stimulus

You should get a deal, sales are down...they have to move inventory anyway they can!

The option list sounded great but WITHOUT PASM is not an option. As you have already seen there are those that regret it, don't be one of those.

PASM is the bomb!

Light Comfort package is nice to have and looks sharp when dining out at night and the Valet brings up the vehicle.

It's all about options, this economy, get all of them and the CPO and your deal is that much better.

IMHO.

...does not have PDCC/PASM/Air Suspension options...to me, those are the options that really make the '08 CS special!

I'd start at $56k and see what happens. Something I've found out about Porsche dealers is they're not your friends - don't worry about offending them.

Can they CPO a demo? I was told (might not be factual) that a demo is sold "new" because it has never been titled and therefore can't be CPO'd. CPO cost is $1995 to PCNA. When was the in service date as a demo? That date triggers the warranty start date regardless of the purchase date. A couple of data points...Pioneer had a demo '08 GTS (6 speed) MSRP $80k discounted down to $66k (starting point). I sold a '06 CS perfect condition for $36k.

I agree with you but I don't think dealer has that much room even if they are willing to loose some. I would offer them $60k and expect a deal $62k~$63k.

Like someone said above, no PASM worries me, especially with 20". PDCC I don't know about, that wasn't available until 08.

Wow, that's 17.5% off to start with?!?! I'm sure the manual transmission has a lot to do with it...

we don't have the plethora of dealers up here but i find that my Ottawa dealer is really great and have always gone the extra to help.

going to the question of value - go to the Auto trader and spend 20 minutes; you will know what the 08's are worth and will be better able to deal.
