Dealer wants to make me deep discount offer on 09 turbo
So my wife was hit with a call from the local dealer that we purchased our 04 turbo from and says he can make a great deal on a new 09 turbo with all the options and color we want.
The catch is he wants us to come in look our 04 turbo over and then quote us a price.
He claims that they can come within a thousand or so of an 08 left over since there are no incentives to sell the 08 over the 09 so long as they move inventory.
So with a sticker of $107k what should I expect before I waste time for nothing? Any ideas what is fair in this market? I am assuming $55k to $59 plus my 04 or should I expect more.
04 is in A+ condition less than 40k miles and has had clear bra on every panel since day one. Jerama beige/ black and all standard options.

Personally I would really be shocked if they offered anywhere near $59 + your '04 but it never hurts to go in and see. If nothing else it will make you appreciate your '04 more.
It's always fun car shopping even if you don't buy, alot better than say drapery shopping.

the dealer is going after your money, no matter how much discount he offers on the new CTT, your trade-in price is looking to be horrible. Why would he wants an extra 04 on his lot full of other inventories?

As far as value for some reason the Cayenne in used form around here is quite popular so mid $30ks is not unreasonable since they are selling for a bit more here than many areas. I saw an 04 S with 28k miles somewhat appointed sell for $30k (private seller) the other day so if you could get my car in perfect clean condition all records and window sticker for $35k I think I would jump on that instead. Not everyone is willing to look out of the area for a good clean example.
If I have to sell it outright I will. I guess the bigger question is how desperate are they? 10% 12% 15% off MSRP.

FWIW, Cayenne sales are the 'bright spot' in PAG sales at the moment, hence they have the lowest discounts.
I would expect 10-12% off MSRP.
I am guessing they will not put your 04 on the floor, but wholesale it after the sale, so start with Galves pricing + 10% (as a goodwill gesture) and that will probably be a good starting point.
I am fortunate, I don't think I could bring home a Cayenne to Larry's widow even it I won it, so these problems are merely hypotheticals.

What is interesting is that there are not as many certified Cayenne Turbos out there as most people think in this forum. Maybe many Cayenne S's, but not many certified Turbos. So I am sure your dealer is interested in certifing yours and selling it back for a few thousand profit considering they originally sold it to you and have the full history (and they know that it is in great condition).

I know you hate Cayennes, but doing a quick search on Porsche's website, there are only 14 2004 Cayenne Turbos for sale in the US right now. Since times are tough, dealers are trying to do anything to make a few bucks. This particular dealer probably has a buyer for Cobalt's 2004 already.

I love Cayennes, who said I hate them? That was Larry, he's dead, I'm sleeping with his widow. Want to have some fun, park a Cayenne in her driveway and see what happens.....
IMHO, the fact that there are only 14 2004 Cayenne Turbos on Porsche's website is insignficant.
How many 04 Cayenne Turbos have been produced, traded in and immediately auctioned/wholesaled? Hint: a few more than 14.
How many dealers are in the market for an 04 Cayenne Turbo to run thru the shop, apply the CPO tag and then put on the lot/floor? Hint: a few less than 14....and that dealer will probably be in a padded office for just thinking about it.
It is due to demographics (and perhaps a personal relationship with a longtime client by an individual dealer....or perhaps sheer desperation to move inventory)....a current Cayenne Turbo owner is more likely to buy a newer model Cayenne Turbo, than say a current V6 Cayenne owner.
Trust me, PCNA and PAG marketing knows more about your fellow Porsche owners than you would ever care to believe.
(of course they could never figure out Larry, but let's be polite and just say he had "issues" and "was a bit outside of the bell curve").
Of course, it's easy to prove me right or wrong.
Let Cobalt trade in his 04 Turbo for 09 and follow what happens.
Deal? I'm in.....

You don't mind if I just sit back while you guys discuss this? I find both sides have merit. Although I am not ready to do anything and have no need to trade in a perfectly good turbo with 3 years left on my extended warranty.
Although that marine blue black on turbo body is gorgeous.
