The one I saw had an Audi diesel in it, not a Porsche designed diesel.

Please do NOT include Porsche Tractors in the same zipcode as a Cayenne (diesel or not)........

Besides, I don't think IB has enough banners left to start another forum.....they'd have to get more annoying banners and advertisements.

Cut from PAG press release (?) for the European market:

Stuttgart. The Executive Board at Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, has given the go-ahead: from February 2009, the sports car manufacturer will offer a Cayenne with a diesel engine and thus extend its range of drives for the sporty all-terrain vehicle further, once again.
(---)
Porsche will equip the Cayenne with a three-litre V6 turbo diesel engine with 240 hp (176 kW) supplied by Audi AG, a subsidiary of the VW Group. The average consumption of the Cayenne Diesel is 9.3 litres per 100 kilometres, with CO2 at 244 grams per kilometre.

I'd love to find the statement from Dr. W. ruling out the possibility of a Porsche diesel while he is in charge.....and banning diesel vehicles from the Porsche parking lots.

If Porsche wants to meet the 2020 CAFE targets they will have to introduce diesel, hybrid etc. The idea of only building gasoline powerplants will be a thing of the past.

Guess we need to start stocking up on the gas hogs before they are outlawed!

Sources tell me Porsche may dispense with the diesel in favor of the V6 Hybrid which should get the same mileage but without the diesel performance penalties.

Let me guess.
They are going to 'share' the same powerplant from the upcoming hybrid Golf/Jetta from VW?
Some believe that a small gas engine hybrid will be cheaper to produce (with regards to EU emissions requirements) than a small diesel hybrid.
Just a guess.

I thought Porsche was buying into Toyota Synergy drive technology. I thought someone mentioned this at a recent PCA function.

They did, same as Ford did.

However, that was a bit before they bought VAG, so now that they do (and VAG had already started a similar program), it makes sense to 'adjust' things a bit.

And let's not forget that 'uncontained thermal incident' with a Cayenne Hybrid prototype.....one of those LMFAO moments you take with you to your grave.
