changing the shifter ****
seach is viruatly blank.
i had the console off in 1 minute and could get the cosmetic shifter surround off, but does anyone know how the swap out the shifter ****?
i bought a black leather one to go with the black trim package etc.
i wish i could get an electronic version shop manual like i have for my 996!

Intrsuction from RennTech.org
Time for a newbie/lurker (that being me) to contribute...
1. Apply park brake.
2. Shift selector to drive (turn the key enough so that you can shift to "D")
3. Firmly pull shift **** off of shaft (do not press selector button on shift **** while doing this).
4. To re-attach ****... place a short flat head screw driver under button on shift **** to wedge it forward gently while push the ****/shaft back onto the selector rod. Push until it snaps to place.
5. Test for proper function and shift back to park before releasing park brake.

jeremy - do you know if you also have to wedge that metal catch behind the button? it looks sort of like a claw or latch ( like your thumb and fore finger); it appears that it gets wedged forward and then when you remove the screw driver it falls back into the slot of the shifter link?
2 tries already and i can't get that linkage to connect properly.

Just for the record, here is when you decided to put me on ignore (in fact I told you how to do it, in the spirit of Rennlist and all):
https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...=ignore&page=2
So, how's the shift **** coming along?
Oh, wait, you can't see any of this.......

Cpa4S,
There seems to be more info in regards to the "hook" behind the shift button as illustrated in this Renntech.org thread:
