I am so on the fence here. I have always wanted a E63 wagon just something about a wagon going 0-60 as fast as a ferrari that just rocks. But I really like the looks of the new GTS. I know they are totally different cars, but I can get a E63 wagon with less than six thousand miles for around $70K. Let somebody else take it in the shorts. Now the new GTS I would be taking it in the shorts.

I agree with ozr... test drive both and then decide. You may like the E63 better, you may like the GTS better... get which ever you like...

For what it's worth, I have an E55 wagon, bone stock. I bought it brand new and a few days later we got hit with 4+ inches of wet heavy snow. The car was pretty good as long as I was smart with the right pedal.

What are your uses for the car? What other cars do you have?
If it's your only vehicle, then a Cayenne is more versatile than an E wagon because a Cayenne can tow, haul more stuff, and go more places. But if you already have a truck, then a Cayenne is superfluous and the E is your choice.

If MB made a 4wd version of the E63 wagon, it would be the no-brainer choice for me. But as with many of you, I need something that holds stuff and works well on snow in the mountains where 4wd avoid needing to chain up.

I hear you, and I was thinking of my comment- upon further thought relative to the prices, it really is a toss up here. Personally, the numbers got me going but I'm used to buying 2-3 year old used cars (except the 911/sports cars I have bought which are typically 10 years old but babied), so the $70K number just seemed to be high. It is all relative though, and I agree it's a tough choice. By the way, we bought our 06 cayenne as a leftover, so while it was the first new car I purchased, it was at such a deep discount it was more similar to a low mileage 2 year old used car
The discount with 6K miles on the e63 is very compelling...
I love the torqey supercharged e55 and especially the sl55....the e63 wagon is definitely in the same bloodline and a great "sleeper" (i.e. it will blow just about anything away while hauling the home depot purchases)!
